Before reading further may I please please ask everyone to be kind and please dont leave any negative comment I am already so depressed
I am a mum of 2 (2.9 and 1.8 years old)
My husband met an accident few years back where his car fell of the bridge,he got back injuries and physios have been going on from ages and after working in tesco it got worse,then he started to work for a marketing company but he was made redundant soon
I used to work in tesco as well but after having my little one i got redundant as well
Now situation is my husband get too too way many episodes of severe back pains where he only screams in pain he basically is dealing with lumbar scoliosis,my older one who is 2.9 is on the refferal for development peads as possibly he is autistic,he is going to nursery for 15hrs a week and they are arranging his refferals and therapy plans as they have written me a letter that he definitely needs an additional help
I have been through worst worst depression because of my son because of him being on spectrum (i have worked in a special school before so i know he is),we could'nt afford this rent from 3 months as my husband cant work and ofcourse I cant as well because of my little girl and son's extra needs ( he is way to hyper and sensory issues) I have tried to work but because of my own mental health issues i couldn't cope with work and house together ( i have got a adenoma on pituitary gland in my brain which makes my hormones mad all the time + i still haven't accepted fully my son being on spectrum ) + we have a huge huge debt £12000 which we took for my husband's job ( he had to meet a target of £12000 otherwise they would have fired him) so we were kinda meetings thosee targets with our own income
Anyway,we haven't given full rent from 3.months and LL wants us to leave this property and he has given us 1 months notice and eviction notice (formal one)
We are clueless we have searched few private flats but no one get agree to give us property,if we apy for council house now,will they help us? Tbh we have sell too many things to meet the ends,my husband is going in depression as he blames himself for our failure

I am feeling too too helpess we have no family here,please advice me

@Chakraleaf

The council will wonder why you didn't push for a dhp for the rent you couldn't afford. Ring them and tell them everything x good luck
Sorry i totally forgot to mention that we were getting dhp from 3 months,it was for 3 months i am not sure if we will get it this month or not

@Iamthedom

Where are you If you are in London / South East you have very little chance of being rehoused by any council

The application takes at least 8 weeks and is back dated to the date you ask for a form. If you ring now, you have 6 weeks to fill in and return the form, so you could still return it after his appointment, but will get it back dated from when you call. You can also post additional evidence separately, so even if their slow sending you the SaLT report, you can still submit the application form, and add the report to your application when you get it.

I ment to quote your post about waiting to apply for your DS's DLA

What you need to do is contant your local council and fill out a homelessness form (you can only do this online as someone from the council calls you once they have all your details.)

When doing the form and speaking to someone, you have to explain your LL has asked you to leave by a certain date. Please don't leave the property beforehand as the council views that as being voluntary homeless as someone else has already mentioned. You have to wait until the bailiffs ask you to leave however the council usually help you before the date that's been given bu the LL. You'll all be placed in temporary accommodation which isn't nice at all. You may be put in a hostel or may be lucky enough to be placed in a self contained flat which is basically like a studio flat.

This depends on your area/demand for a council flat but unless you're willing to wait years in temporary accommodation and hope you get a council flat, you won't be housed in one anytime soon. What many boroughs do now, is house homeless people in private accommodation. The council are in contact with LL who are happy to take people living on low income/UC. UC will cover your rent and that's how you get by. The compromise is that they put you in band B for bidding in hope that you'll be in a council flat in less than 5 years.

I've been through this experience myself and was housed recently in the summer (private renting of course). Your best bet is filling in the homelessness form on your local council's website. All the best🙌

You need to contact your local council who will talk you through your options. There is more info for your area on this link.

www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/councilservices/adult-social-care/welfare-support/Pages/homelessness-and-housing-advice.aspx

Separate to that is debt advice. People are available to help you, take that step to contact them.

Be warned, my local council won't house you if you're made homeless due to rent arrears. Even though I had rent arrears due to a mistake at their end with my housing benefit they wouldn't help me.
I ended up borrowing the deposit for a private rental from family.

Yes but we have sent them our bank statement when we requested for dhp,i mean even though they ll see that we are not able to afford rent even then they wont help us?

I can't say they definitely won't, but they didn't help me. Even when they admitted they'd underpaid our housing benefit (this was pre universal credit)

It's worth asking the council. And apply for housing. But don't get your hopes up.

The most the council will do is place you in temporary accommodation to keep you off of the street. You'll then be in private housing where UC will pay the rent if neither of you are able to work. You won't be getting a council flat anytime soon. I also think what the pp has said is correct for most boroughs. The council didn't help someone I know who was getting evicted for arrears. It doesn't hurt to fill out the homelessness form in order to speak to someone

Whitefire · 08/02/2022 20:23

Please contact the relevant local council from the link I provided above (let me know if I have your area wrong) they will be able to advise you. Sticking your head in the sand isn't going to help. You have young children they will at the very least advise you of your next steps.

Mumoftwostars · 09/02/2022 13:11

Yes my husband is filling form today with all of our medical records,fingers crossed and yes with eviction notice as well
I dont want any place for ever i am sure in a few months or years we will be back on out feet and would be able to buy our home once my kids will be in the full time school i just if they can help only for couple of months i would b really glad
