What’s the longest chain you’ve had

What’s the longest chain you’ve had when buying and selling property? We’ve sold ours and our buyer is bottom of chain. Then our seller has had an offer accepted on their onwards and the vendors of that are looking at properties. Honestly, makes my head spin!

How’s it gone for you guys?

I was wondering the same thing @Thethreeofusandpooch .

I'm at the bottom of a chain of 5 that is not yet complete. My offer was accepted nearly 3 months ago and I don't know how long to leave it before starting to search for something else.

I'm getting nervous as each new link is created as it seems riskier, with more chance that someone's mortgage or survey will cause problems and the whole thing will collapse.

I'm trying not to put pressure on my seller as I know this is stressful for them too but it's hard to be patient.

I am bottom in a chain of 4. My offer was accepted early Sept and I'm still waiting. Had a long wait for probate at the top, and now waiting for them to get Management Pack from the freeholder of the OAP appartments.
Finding locally that more houses are starting to come on the market, if anything comes up without a chan I'll be jumping on it thats for sure.

We have 3 houses in our chain with us in the middle -
Our buyers selling theirs to a cash buyer for Buy to let, our buyers are cash buyers for our home, we are mortgage to house that has been rented and now empty. Our mortgage offer can through Friday so hopefully we are on a roll with things!

So far people are filling in paper work and returning things super quickly so fingers crossed!! X

I had one that was 6 but one of those was a divorce so two people and sort of tied into another chain. It was horrific

We are up to 4 at the minute and those at the top of the chain are looking so could end up being more.

We have first time buyers buying ours, they offered middle of Feb so really hoping they hang on in there...we would find another buying fine but I really don't want to have to tidy my house for viewings again 🤣

We are in a chain of 4, and we are 3rd in line, so our vendor is top of the chain.

however, we’ve just been told that the bottom of the chain has just pulled out of our buyers flat (they are a couple each selling a house to buy ours) so our buyers are desperately trying to get it viewed and sold again. She had an offer accepted on it in Jan, and her FTB has literally just pulled out.

we are hoping that the top of the chain doesn't start pushing, or decides to put it back on market as we’ll be gutted to lose the house

I’ve only ever bought new builds before, being in a chain is so bloody stressful

Stevie77 · 18/05/2022 18:13

It’s is only 4 (3 now our seller is breaking chain), but the people causing most problems are the FTB at the bottom. Complete and utter pain in the back side they are!

Roselilly36 · 18/05/2022 18:43

Chain of four for our last move.

TheVillageBaker · 18/05/2022 18:49

We were only in a chain of 3 and it took absolutely ages. Our mortgage offer was only valid for 6 months and we completed 2 days before the deadline! Most stressful time of my life!
