Question about drilling in to tile

I'm going to attempt to put a shower caddy up today. I've got a tile drill bit but do I use that just to drill the tile and then swap to a normal brick drill bit to go in to the wall? There'll be plasterboard behind the tile but then it's an external wall.

I don't know the answer and husband out atm, but I've seen him put a piece of masking tape on the place he's about to drill, to prevent marks on the tile, in case of slipping, especially if they are porcelain.

You could also use a fitting especially designed for plasterboard, so no need to go into the brick at all.

Thanks. I'm quite nervous but the builder kept saying it was it was the tilers job and the tiler kept saying it was the builders. Pathetic really! So I'm just going to do it myself. Have seen the plasterboard wall plugs so will dig some out. Luckily the fitting is quite big that the screw goes through so any small mistakes will be hidden. And the tiler said he'd just replace the tile for me if I mess it up. 🙄. He could have just done it for me. I'm paying him enough.

Make sure don't use a drill with hammer action switched on, or it'll break the tile. Most hammer drills will have a switch somewhere to switch the hammer mode off.
