Would anyone look at my floor plan and give me ideas for an extension?

Big ask, I'm finding it really hard to visualise anything other than what is already there! Have lived here for 5 years and meant to extend straight away and do the kitchen. Don't want a conservatory anymore I think would prefer an extension, roughly the same size as the current kitchen. I want/need a dining table space for 6 and more storage. I would LOVE to get a downstairs loo in the bit labelled "store" which has the washing machine and tumble dryer in it.
Hoping someone who's done an extension (or just likes house plans) could give me some ideas. Obviously I need to get an architect but I'd like to think what's possible first!
Thank you to anyone who's bothered reading this far. Will post plan in first comment.

We put ours in with strong enough foundations to support a second storey, I'm glad we didn't break the bank to do it though because we don't actually need it!

Don't do a conservatory in Scotland pal, are you mad Smile You'll use it twice a year. You won't go in it in winter at all and it'll make the whole house like an oven in summer. We're not built for glass houses!

Haha! Probably true Grin
I really want to go and sit in a neighbour's conservatory to see how it feels. There's only one who faces the same way as us. How long would you need to cultivate a friendship before sitting in the conservatory, I wonder? Blush

Sorry I read you no longer wanting a conservatory as you had one you were going to replace.
The ideas for layout are good but if the cost is prohibitive then there are some options with the existing footprint to achieve some of what you want.
We did away with the utility room (was so awful was more janitor's cupboard in design!) and instead used the 60cm behind our back door to run a length of Low units hiding integrated washer and extra fridge and freezer. Then put a nice wooden worktop on it so it looks like a big dresser. We are long and thin in opposite direction and use as extra sofa area but it gave us so much more space than having a separate utility.
Do you have an understairs cupboard? If so could a toilet go in there? You really don't need much space.

That's interesting, thanks, I think the store/utility is affected by having the back door in there too - if we had a door to the garden from the kitchen then we could run units along the back wall, as it is the back door opens into the room reducing available space. What I really want I suppose is the dining table, we have a 1m circular table in the left end of the kitchen, it's against the wall so can really only sit 2 without pulling it out and so it isn't used much for all if us. I picture the dc's growing up and never coming home for Christmas with their partners as we don't have the space bit ahead of myself as youngest is 9 but I do worry!

Maybe I will try to work out how I could rejig the kitchen and utility then rather than an extension.

we have a similar sized kitchen and we got a small table for 4 in, just about, by moving doorways. They didn't move by much, but it made all the difference. We have a small rectangular table with the short side butted up against a wall. A built in banquette can also work on the wall side if you want to go into a corner.

I know you said not a conservatory but one thing they are good for is dining rooms. Heat it up for Sunday lunches or when you have visitors. However, going out the back like in the first responders sketch does look like a better solution to me. The utility looks like a decent space so you should be able to do something with that, but I don't think you will have space in the kitchen for bigger table, enough cupboards/worktop AND an extra door in there. And don't design the kitchen round the utility.

A utility cupboard in the kitchen and separate loo might work, it doesn't matter if the lobby between is v small.

Depends where you are. In Glasgow? You don't even need an introduction, just knock the door. Edinburgh? 20 years of friendship and your first born child marrying their first born child might get you in the door by 2043.

Aye, it's the latter I'm afraid GrinGrin
Though our immediate neighbours have been lovely (conservatory-less unfortunately)
