Wall mounted TV on chimney breast anyone?

Has anyone ever mounted a wall mounted tv on a chimney breast successfully? (NOT a working fireplace).

We have a Samsung Frame which looks like art work, and the focal point of our new living room is the chimney breast so I'm hoping we can fit it there.

I am in a semi. Adjoining neighbour has TV mounted on chimney breast in living room. On normal days, it is hurrendous for my house. Chimney seems to act as a giant speaker, projecting loud sound into my living room and main bedroom. On movie nights it is worse than hurrendous, it is too loud in every room of my house, not just those 2 rooms.

Speakers are typically empty boxes, so is a chimney! Soundproofing the chimney is unlikely to be successful.

In contrast, the hard of hearing previous neighbour had TVs on a table next to wall in both living room and bedroom. Hard of hearing, so they had the volume pretty high. I could barely hear it, certainly didn't wake me up or stop me getting to sleep.

Please don't mount your TV on chimney breast - unless you never plan to turn it on.

My TV is on a chimney breast. I've never heard it anywhere else in the house (either upstairs or downstairs). I am friendly with my neighbour and often in her house... I've never heard my TV in her house and vice versa! She also has hers wall mounted.

Mine is on an arm that extends and swivels, not directly on the wall.

The arm sounds great, I wish my neighbour had used one, might have been quieter for me.

Isn't this type of TV "on" all the time? It has to be, too display the display.
Not great in a cost of energy crisis and not particularly eco friendly.

My dad had his 70inch Samsung on the chimney adjoining his neighbours house
The neighbours are deaf 😂 so I’m sure they didn’t complain to him but it was up before they moved in

Please don't do this if you share the chimney with your neighbour.

Aesthetically I can’t bear tvs over fireplaces and it sounds like there are practical issues on shared walls too. Can you get a stand and put it in a cabinet?

Following with interest OP as our builder has just installed a Samsung Frame to our chimney breast above our wood burner. So to answer your original question, yes - this is possible. He said we would need to install a mantle piece as that would deflect much of the heat from the tv.

Haven’t yet tried the TV as the wood flooring is still be being finalised. We are semi detached and this would be on the party wall side.

Oh I love Mumsnet. You post a question about a problem you have and by the end of the thread you've been informed of a load of new problems you didn't know you had!! Like I said, this isn't a normal black tv! It's a frame with a wooden picture frame and a painting inside. No-one would know it's a tv so aesthetically it works just great! Confused

The acoustics aren't going to be such an issue I've realised. We use a sonos system with speakers next to the sofa so we don't actually have the sound coming out of the tv itself. Hopefully that means it won't be an issue with neighbours.

So that's aesthetics and neighbours sorted, now I just need to ask handyman if he can mount on chimney breast. There's no working fire so it's just a case of whether the surface is ok to mount it on. Helpful to hear that others have succeeded.

I've been planning to to this and I think it looks totally fine in a kitchen diner. Why anyone would want to come on to say it will look crap I don't know. It will free up space either side as we plan to have in built storage put in maybe I'll put loads of books in there to offset the horror of hading a television in the room

You could always have a chat with the n/b at the end of the day whilst it's a pain if I did I and it caused mine that much hell I would just move it again.
