We came across a nice property in Whitton. Need to move out of London to buy our first home and it seems this area offers better value for your money than other areas nearby.

Reading an old post on mumsnet, it talks about:

  • sewage smell from Mogden
  • noise from the planes
  • issues with young thugs from Hounslow north or it

The post is old, is that sewage smell still an issue? Down to what area of Whitton is affected?
I’m sure the aircraft noise hasn’t gone away, it’s just something you get when you are close to an airport. However how disturbing is it?

No it used to be bad if you lived close. Also reading your other comment I would look at streets to the left of twickenham green. Or higher up Staines road

@SantoPalo - the areas you mentioned are nice. I would say if you are looking for something neat Twickenham Green really lovely area but houses are smaller and prices are higher, so depends on what kind of place you are after. If you go up near kneller gardens (lincoln road etc) - benefit that you are so much closer walking distance to kneller park which is lovely, and twickenham green (which has the best pubs!) but not as easy for train stations (bus to twickenham station or walk to whitton station but will have to go under passage or over passage to cross the motor way). Then up near Whitton station I;d say the nicest (but also most expensive) are the roads on twickenham side of the whitton station but lower than nelson road; other side of whitton station (Mayfair, Melrose, Tranmere) is also lovely and close to station. Up from Nelson Road is hit and miss, some really nice streets there and nice houses especially closer to whitton, but check schools if you have kids (eg: there were a few streets around whitton dene that were not in catchment area). Murray park is also nice. If you don;t mind a walk to whitton station, I;d also look at Waverley avenue and around there - close to Crane park, big houses, lovely area, good schools.

Hello,
I read this entire thread on Whitton and it's really helpful.
I'm really liking a house at Knellers garden, Whitton. Any idea on this area please? Also how's Mogden smell near this area? Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks.
