Bosch dishwasher check water light

Hi,

I'd really appreciate some help. My slimline Bosch Serie 2 dishwasher is not cleaning properly. The rinse cycle works but any of the main cycles stop on the drying cycle and the check water light flashes. The water is not heating up at all during the cycle and grease and other stains are not being removed.

Is it worth calling someone out to fix this? I've looked inside and there is no water pooling in the bottom or any obvious sign of a problem.

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Don't keep using it! I had that fault light and kept using my dishwasher. It then pumped water out all over the kitchen floor. So it cost me a new dishwasher AND a new kitchen floor.

Appreciate the advice. So was yours not worth repairing or just too costly? Thanks

If you can find the model number and get hold of the manual then you can look in the troubleshooting section and see what the different fault lights mean. Most manuals are available online now.

A common dishwasher issue is that the drip tray underneath is full and needs emptying. The full tray causes the dishwasher to stop running mid cycle because there is a sensor to stop the dishwasher flooding the kitchen. Sometimes it just needs emptying and sometimes it means there is a leak which needs fixing.

If you can move the dishwasher out then tipping it forwards will empty the tray onto the floor and might fix the issue.

Have you cleaned out the filter and checked nothing is blocking the impeller? Google the instructions as with mine there's a little white plastic cover i have to remove to check the impeller (it's under the main filter cover)

Sometimes the water pooling isn’t obvious. If it’s more than 5 years old and has been in frequent use, then I would not call someone out, I’d just replace it. This happened to me and I did call someone out, only for him to say that’s how it is these days, dishwasher needs trashing. It’s terrible, but it seems to be the way these days.

We had a similar fault with our Miele dishwasher last week. £145 call out fee to replace a broken £3 washer that we wouldn't have been able to find or replace ourselves.

Thanks for all the replies. I tipped it forward as suggested and some water did come out. I just put on a cycle and the water is cold so heating still not working. It's 5+ years old so I think I'll have to buy a new one. No point paying for costly repairs only for it to breakdown again soon.

Oh and i've already cleaned the drip tray and drain exit. They are cleaned regularly so no blockage there.

I have this same issue. There are lots of YT videos to show how to troubleshoot. Often there's a small valve in the drip tray which closes when it detects water, but it sounds like your heating element has gone. I'm going to have go at replacing mine. Might as well as its a new machine either way. Heating elements are not dear and can order them online; good luck!
