Lightweight conservatory roof

Has anyone had this done and is it actually worth the cost?

As is the usual case, the conservatory is just stuck on the back of the house and never used due to being too hot/cold (we do use it more in the summer with the back doors open).

I had a quote (from a company I wouldn’t dream of using as such bad reviews and first impressions) but it was nice to get a ball park figure. It was 7k ish for a 3x4.

If I had it done I would either want the doors off leading into the kitchen, or I would want the sliding doors changing for bi-fold.

The conservatory floor is a little higher than the kitchen so doors on or off there is going to be a small step (which I can live with).

I know most of the time people just say knock it down and build an extension... that isn’t an option money wise.

But 10k for the roof and a bi fold door (guesstimate) is doable.

So tempted to get this sorted and make use of the space, as it really is a lovely room, but worried the space will still be cold/hot and it will be an expensive mistake!

Thanks

A friend of mine has had it done and it has made a huge difference. Be aware you may need planning permission.

Thank you. Thought it was building regulations approval? Assuming that’s different to planning permission, do I need both?

We had ours done last year, it was a bit more as we also had the frame replaced. It is great, and really cosy now. The room is much cooler especially since we eventually got the blinds fitted. A lot quieter when it rains too.

No you're right - it's building control who will need to sign off on it.

It is one of the best things we ever did! We also removed the door between conservatory and lounge and gave the same carpet throughout. Looks amazing and is used everyday!

Meant to say - cost £9k for 3mx4m including the decorating, and 2 French doors.
