Improving kerb appeal

Our house is a bit of a funny looking one but until we save enough money to sort out the windows and loft we would like to tidy up the front a bit.
One of the problems is because the front door is at the side of the house and there is no hallway at the front, it can look very dark in the evenings.
I would like to get some outside lights installed either side of the bay window but where would you put them?
Options are either above the diamond windows, between the diamonds and the bay or below the diamonds 🤔 I can't figure out what would look best!
Since this picture was taken we have cleared a lot of the overgrown hedges and the pots are changed but how else can it look a bit prettier? Maybe a bay tree?
Ideas would be welcome!

It’s a normal and fine looking house OP, I wouldn’t say it has zero kerb appeal.
Couple of bay trees either side of the windows
Wooden flower box in between
I wouldn’t bother with lights, it looks odd unless it’s some grandeur castle
The paint looks reasonably fresh, I would say that’s all it needs

I wouldn't say only castles have outside lights? Confused

If you want light without making a feature of it, you could perhaps consider downlights in the soffit above the diamonds? Apart from that you can't go wrong with potted trees and flowers Smile

I would just put one light above your house number (I'm assuming you've scrubbed out the number).

I agree your house looks fine. With new windows etc.it will look even better. Maybe paint or varnish the gate?

Ooh I like this idea! We had Christmas lights under there and now I miss them so think that coukd be a good way to light it up for thr rest of the year.

New windows are definitely in the long term plan, the brown isn't the most attractive! And yes agreed the gate could do with a paint Smile

I think paving over what would have been the front garden detracted from it's appeal. Reinstating that would do wonders.

Maybe paint over the brown? A bit of a dated colour. A fresher, lighter colour would do well.

Maybe matching blinds at all 3 windows too?

Definitely a couple of tall bays, olives or even topiary either side of the bay window. Costco had some great fake ones.
