Help for an awkward room layout?

I'm an avid watcher of all the interior design programmes and generally have a good eye for this kind of thing, but I'm completely stumped by my DD's bedroom. It's above a garage extension and has sloping ceilings both sides and the door opens into the centre under the apex. The pitch of the ceilings is really low and the width of the room is barely 7ft so it's very narrow.

I'm thinking of paying someone to come and design a layout that makes the most of it, but not sure where to start with that. Would I need an interior designer, architect, what? Any ideas?

I'd look at putting in a dormer window to get more space

Diagram? Where’s the window - in the roof slopes or at the opposite end from the door? How long is the room? What furniture exactly do you need to fit in there?

I'll try and draw a diagram. It's quite complicated. There are Velux windows in both the sloping ceilings and we can't afford a dormer as the roof ridge is too low so it would involve raising the roof line.

I suppose the standard is built in cupboards under the eaves. Bed in the middle opposite the door. What is it you want to achieve with the space?

Photos would help here.

There would barely be room if the bed was there as the room is so narrow. It's DD's room atm but eventually I'd like it to function as a double guest room. She has a double bed atm but it's under the eaves. She can sit up in bed but only on one side.

It sounds like you need a flat roof extension - is that an option? It would give you much more usable space.

I recommend Karen at Oneplan - she designed several rooms for me

what furniture do you need to fit into the room? Can you have the double bed arranged so the foot of the bed is under the eaves? if you put a decorative chest or low chest of drawers at the head of the bed, that could then give clothes storage + bedside table.

and have the lowest bed possible - a futon or similar - to maximise headroom.
