Problem with LVT flooring

We recently had some LVT flooring laid in our kitchen.

The fitter used a levelling compound to get the base flat before laying the flooring, but he didn't do a good job as it wasn't very level.

We got another flooring installer to come and try to rectify it by making it more level, but it's still not right, and when you walk on it, you hear a cracking sound on certain areas.

Is this a common issue with lvt flooring?

We're considering whether we should cut our losses and replace it with tiles or something more solid?

Any advice appreciated.

You should have got the original fitter back to rectify it.
Did the second installer take up the tiles to level the floor?
No it's not a common problem if done properly, the cracking sound is the screed breaking up underneath the flooring, it should be solid.

Is it the clic version? Do you have heavy furniture on it? We had issues with ours due to heavy furniture

I got the original installer back, but his proposed solution proved he was completely incompetent.

The 2nd guy took the lvt up and attempted to level the floor by adding some compound to the base and levelling it.

It's the click type. We have a table and chairs on the floor, but the cracking is all over the room.

Maybe I should lift the flooring up and check the screed?

Ours has risen the whole way through the room from the furniture on it. Apparently you shouldn't put anything with weight on it because it can't expand and shrink properly. We are having to rip ours up and get the glue type.

This is the far end away from the furniture. We have huge gaps in where it's been moving cos of the ridges

We have glue down LVT and have had no issues, it's been brilliant. A friend with the clic type had this problem you have!

Surely that's a design flaw ? No furniture on a floor!

I suppose its fine in a kitchen where it's laid under units. But it should definitely be clearer! Expensive mistake!

OP If the screeding hasn't been done correctly it will crack under foot & won't be level. I doubt your floor layer was experienced enough to do the work.

Thanks for all the comments. I think we definitely picked a bad workman. Seriously thinking about going for the stick down type that doesn't click together, but think I'll lift up the existing floor first and have a look at what's going on underneath it.
