Noise and sound proofing

I had the downstairs party wall soundproofed. Builder just brought the wall forward a bit and packed with noise reducing material. Reasonably effective. I need to reduce sound in the bedroom next. NND have TV on the chimney breast and I hear it when it’s on.

Problem is there is not the room to build a new cavity onto chimney. I need storage so was thinking of getting fitted wardrobes, with backs, right across the wall. The clothes inside should reduce noise. Thing is the storage at the chimney part will be shallow but at least a back and a door will be between the chimney and the room.

Do you think this might work? Kills 2 birds…gives me storage and hopefully reduces sound.

You can also brick up the fireplace, except for an airbrick to prevent condensation and damp.

Hi. Thanks. Yes we’re removing the old fire and getting it bricked up with an air brick. I’m hoping that might help a bit too. The chimney seems to act to amplify their TV sound. I don’t even think their volume is high. The walls are just thin!

My friend did the reverse, and ripped out fitted wardrobes when decorating. She regrets it massively as she's shocked by the increase in noise. I guess that means it must work.

Yes. We have them in another room. They work. They are packed full of clothes though!!!!
