Any people in the know kind enough to point me to good alternatives from other brands?

trade white

mobear · 19/01/2022 19:17

All White is just white, I would think any white would do. As PP said, trade white.

KirstenBlest · 19/01/2022 19:43

I have trade white and it doesn't look cold but the room face east or west.

KirstenBlest · 19/01/2022 19:43

rooms not room

We have Little Greene Loft White everywhere - it is like brilliant white minus the cold blue undertones. It is hospital chic but I love it

Hi @SilenzioBruno, I've used F&B All White a few times and it is lovely but definitely gets expensive if you've got a lot of surface area to cover.

I've used Dulux Supermatt white as an alternative in my last couple of houses. It's a white without any undertone including the "brilliant"ness. It's often advertised as for going straight onto new plaster which is also an advantage but it doesn't have to if you're painting over something else.

My most recent favourite alternative is Cotton White again from Dulux, I also use it on the skirting and ceiling so just looks white but it's not at all cold. We've just used it in our garage conversion and am about to paint DS's room in it as well.

SilenzioBruno · 20/01/2022 16:13

Thanks all. Soffit yes, I want to avoid it looking cold. Thanks Solla, definitely need to minimise the expense!

I personally don't think All White is like Brilliant white at all! It's much warmer.

Crown so one called sail white and also milk white which I thought were the closest mainstream matches to All White.

As another poster has said, Dulux supermatt is amazing too - we have it on all ceilings.

SilenzioBruno · 21/01/2022 16:55

Thanks indie, I agree with you about brilliant white. I’ll take a look at Sail white and milk white Smile

I would say Dulux Timeless, or for clay paint Earthborn Clay White. These are almost identical, soft whites

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 21/01/2022 19:02

Dulux Timeless is one I really like.

SunnyUpNorth · 21/01/2022 23:18

Are all of these suitable for woodwork?

Dillidilly · 22/01/2022 07:23

@SunnyUpNorth you would need to buy the corresponding satinwood/gloss in the same colour (or get it mixed).

indiesearcher · 22/01/2022 07:59

I've found that Timeless, depending on the light, looked very creamy/yellowy in my old house. Had the same problem with F&B Pointing and Wimborne White.

Soffit · 22/01/2022 11:09

@SunnyUpNorth

Are all of these suitable for woodwork?
Little Greene has Intelligent Matt Emulsion which is suitable for woodwork. I like a blend of different whites within the same space.
