We're looking at new build houses and the one we like has 2 of these symbols in the garden.

Can anyone help with what they mean please?

The black squiggly ones! Google is no help! Thanks

I'm hoping it's nothing awful as we were planning on reserving the house tomorrow

Do you mean the 'T' marks? If so, those mean that the boundary is the responsibility of the owners of the property on the side where the T points. So if they point toward the property you wish to buy you will need to maintain the wall, fence or hedge

No the squiggly T shaped lines in between the Ts, there's only these two in the garden and 4 others on the whole development.

It's a slope. The wide end of the squiggle is the high end, and it slopes down towards the narrow end of the squiggle shape.

In the pic you attached, it looks like the edge of the garden is dropping down towards the fenceline.

Whether it's a bad thing really depends on how you are wanting to use the garden- and how big the squiggles are- if they cover the whole garden it could be a challenge to play football etc. In the photo you attached they are just a really small strip down the side, so likely just to be a little strip where all the footballs end up in an otherwise pretty flat garden.

I think in your shoes I'd have a chat with the developer tomorrow- the other thing you can't tell from a drawing is how steep they are. If its a gentle slope it might be barely noticeable, but a steeper gradient would be much more obvious when you are using it.

Yep it's a bank exactly as Canyousew says.

Thanks very much, the only other plot to have them has them in a line across the middle of their garden.

I'll definitely find out more about gradients etc
