Sanding worktops - how many coats of Osmo oil?

Currently sanding and oiling our rather battered wooden worktops.

I've used a sander to go through three grades of sand paper, rough to smooth. Hoovered and wiped in between each sand.
I've then applied a coat of osmo top oil in acacia stain.
They look good but the surface is slightly tacky still. I applied the coat very thinly with a brush and it's has plenty of time to dry.
Is one coat enough do you think?

Those of you that have done yours, how many coats did you apply?

Ours had about 4

When I redid my worktops with Osmo the instructions were not to sand too smooth - no finer than 120 grade, otherwise the oil could not penetrate the wood easily.

Thanks! I've gone down to 150 which hopefully will still be ok.
The section I did yesterday seems less tacky now so maybe they are taking longer to dry because it's cold (doesn't help that my kitchen is always freezing!)

It shouldn’t be tacky still from one coat. How thickly did you apply it?

Really thinly - far thinner than I would have with paint. I really made sure that I moved the oil right down the grain until there was none left on the brush at all.

It doesn't feel wet to touch and I don't get any residue but it's not smooth when I run my hand along it if that makes sense.
The worktop is about 15 years old and not in the best condition. Not sure if that's making the difference. The breakfast bar which I did using exactly the same technique feels fine. Just wondered whether I should give the battered worktop more oil but maybe it will make it worse!
