Changed my mind re window colours

I slowed my planning permission last year because I wrangled over the colour of the windows that I wanted at the front of my house. PO finally agreed to it, despite stating that they thought I was wrong. We compromised.

Fast forward a year and I've had the stone facade sandblasted in a sample area, and the colour hasn't changed as much as what I thought it would, so I'm not thinking the PO was right all along.

I have to make a decision on the colour by Monday - can I revert back to what the PO and I discussed argued over and happily agree that they were right all along? This was all on a telephone conversation and the planning notes don't state that I MUST have the colour that I argued for.

Aaaargh. I'm also thinking that the sand blaster was half-hearted doing the sample blast. What if the stone CAN be brought back to its natural state?!

What colour did you argue for ? Is it going to be a huge change ? Don’t think the planners will care if you go with their original suggestion (white ? ) If there is nothing on the planning notes it should t matter but you can always get a minor variation or retrospective agreement if they are bothered . It’s making the choice that’s hard ! Hard to know what sandblasted stone will look like all over as it is likely to be variable on tone due to the stone and will anyway mellow and change again over time . If it’s facade then perhaps the blaster was being careful as don’t want it to start coming off or fragmenting . We have a stone house and have a soft grey green colour on which looks beautiful but it’s paint so could be changed . I personally would be wary of coloured UVPC as I’d be worried about changing my mind but unless you’ve gone for bright orange I’m sure it will look great ! Any pics ?

I don't have pics but I wanted to have cream windows and sandblast my pennant stone back to its natural 'blue' hue.

PO argued for anthracite grey.

The stone has aged to a murky brown over the 170 years it's been built since and I'm super disappointed with the result of the sandblast trial. Cream windows won't go with it.

To add to my dilemma, I'd have to have cream bifolds specially made to match all the other windows.

I'm wondering whether to settle for the paler grey green all over for a compromise! 🙈

Have you looked at painswick grey? We live in an area of Cotswold stone cottages and this along with Cotswold green is a v popular choice

Just looked - it's absolutely lovely. Thanks. Will run this by DH.

Painswick Grey does look lovely. I’d agree about the cream, lots of varying coloured stone houses around us here in Northumberland and the grey - green spectrum always looks better than the cream IMO, but I still prefer cream to white. The planners do seem to have taken a shine to anthracite grey for some reason .... 🤷 Good luck - hard choices - took me ages with just paint but yours is a tougher call .
