Help! How do I hang this heavy coat rack safely?

Bought on Facebook Marketplace, so didn't come with any instructions or fixings. It's 8kg so pretty heavy. Would like to hang it on an internal masonry wall. There are some fixings built into the corners and some additional tiny brackets on the top side of the shelf. Photos attached. Any suggestions? Would really love to start using this and no longer have to fights coats for sofa space where they are currently being dumped. Thanks!

If it is going on a brick or block wall, three or four brown plasplugs, with steel screws long enough to pass through the unit and the plaster and penetrate at least 35mm into the brick or block.

The fastenings have to be right at the top of the unit to avoid leverage trying to pull them out.

The keyhole plates you show fit over the head of round-headed steel screws standing slightly proud of the wall. Try a few and use the largest ones whose heads will pass through the round hole. Start with 4mm x 50. The other brackets are fixed after it is in the keyholes.

How old is the house?

Have you got an electric hammer drill?

You can use more keyhole plates if you want.

Thank you so much @PigletJohn, and yes I have an electric drill with hammer setting. There are keyhole plates on both sides of this rack and two small brackets on top. Do you think these four fittings will be sufficient? House is 1930s. Thanks again.

Also @PigletJohn I've found these screws. The heads fit into the keyholes perfectly. Do they look like the right sort of thing? Is 50mm or 70mm better, or does it not really matter?

Mine keeps falling down so is now nailed along with a ton of no more nails

I guess just don't overload it once it's up (That's what we do and is why it keeps falling down 🤦🏼‍♀️)

The screws you show are countersunk, you need round head or pan head. This is flat on the underside to bear against the flat keyhole plate. If a 5mm (no. 10) screw will fit, it is stronger than a 4mm (no. 8) and has a bigger head.

If you have to buy some, get BZP steel which has an anti-rust plating that may prevent rust staining if there is ever any damp.

the head has to just fit through the round hole, and the shaft a close fit in the slot.

If it's an internal wall, about 100mm thick plus plaster, a 50mm screw and a 35mm brown plasplug (tapped below the surface of the plaster to reduce cracking) will be suitable.

If the dust that comes out when you drill is black, it's probably a Breeze block wall (these are never seen now) and you would benefit from an extra step to set the plugs firmly.

p.s.

I just checked plasplugs, they do a 30mm and a 40mm but not a 35mm brown

so 40mm will be better for a 50mm screw

it does not matter if the thin point comes out the end.

If you buy a block, it has example holes and screw sizes in the flat bit. Enlarge the pic

Success! Huge thanks @PigletJohn for all your advice!
