Security Systems: any comments on Verisure?

We have an ADT system. The buttons on the keypad stick meaning we cannot access ‘Silent Set’ .

We could just about cope with the 30 second whine, but no doubt another button will soon give up,

ADT offered to ‘upgrade’ the system but it would be basically the same we already have but the monthly charge would go up a lot.

Verisure came today and have quoted for a system that’s seems much more up to date. It is cheaper to install and maintain than ADT’s replacement option.

Has anyone any opinions of Verisure? No one we know here has it though our son says it is very popular where he lives in London.

Following. We have just opted for this - they had an offer on in our local Costco. Being fitted later in the week.

Following as something we need to look into.

Btw do you have an alarm system and cctv? Or do you think cctv not needed if alarm system?

Sun2021, we already have a Ring doorbell which covers the front of the house, and three Blink cameras for the side and back entrances and garden, so are not getting CCTV.
Both were presents from DS1, not conscious decisions, but the Ring is very useful.
The Blink usually shows nothing other than visiting cats.

Funny enough we have recently had an alarm installed. It we between ADT and verisure (a lot of people in the nearby area had verisure) in the end we chose to go with ADT mainly because the whole alarm system was 500 to install (including 3 camera outside (back, front and drive/garage) as well as 1 inside on front door and stairs but monthly amount slightly more at 41 a month. Verisure wanted 35 a month to monitor but the cost of the alarm was so much cheaper to install that the monthly amount more did not make a big difference

It's hard to weigh up installation versus maintenance. But for us, both were cheaper with Verisure . We were with ADT for over 20 years and were very happy, but in the last year or so they have been slow to respond to miss- set alarms and maintenance. Hoping for the best with Verisure. 8 sensors on doors and windows, a photo detector etc.

Just thought I I would update to say we have had our Verisure system for four days and so far we are impressed. It takes a big of getting used to as it is fancier than our ADT system. We managed to set the alarm off on the first evening, but got a call back within a minute and the problem was resolved, a mistake by the installer, who was otherwise excellent. ADT used to be prompt but now they only respond after a long time lapse or not at all if they think it is accidental.
Husband miss-set it last night, consequently the cat set it off at four a.m, instant response again. Our fault. The Verisure man was very helpful. Apparently 'cat friendly' is not 'cat proof' . He had nice photos of Moppet hopping around in the conservatory and advised us on the correct setting which DH should have used to allow cat to prowl.
Once the self inflicted teething problems are over, I think we will be very content.

The installation cost £624, monthly fee £31. Two internal cameras, nine 'shocks' on doors and various windows , Fixed key pad by front door plus a portable one to use where wanted. We have this in the bedroom as it has a panic button, ten key fobs for remote setting and one of those things which emit smoke so burglars cannot see. A bit of a novelty but it was included free.

ADT wanted £700 to replace the old system, £39+ a month to maintain and monitor. They priced it online on the basis of like for like, no consideration that some doors and windows had been moved. No one would come to survey or discuss our revised needs.

Fingers crossed the change was a wise decision.

I just got my Verisure installed.. But what the installer said and what my invoice said after paying were quite different:
I got 2x picture taking camera, 4x shock detectors, 6 fobs, 2 super fobs , controller fixed on the wall, 1x vision clouding smoke device, and Arlo doorbell video for £337 and monthy £42 pounds. Before installing he said it would be £31.99 per month with no increase in fee unless there is a huge inflation... I asked the rep after to query this and he said I should be charged £32 even though my invoice said 42. I asked if there will be no planned increase in price as he said, but he never replied. lol He came across as a very trustworthy person.. so I will see... I contacted Verisure customer service to clarify but apparently they don't have access to my invoice and can't advice about cooling off period or about my contract as there is no fixed company policy which makes me concerned.. so my advice would be please do make sure you read all the terms and conditions and if they don't show you and ask you to pay like the saleman did to me, don't do that! Another thing he said was the current jubilee sale 70% runs out tonight so the price will go up by £140 after today as the deal ran out. I'm now not too sure how true this is.. but now that I paid a relatively large sump of money for the installation.. I guess I have no choice... If you read the terms and condition, my contract says if I cancel the policy during the cooling off period, they will still charge me for the engineering installation fee ( which was £337) for me, and any devaluation of the equiments.. so yeah. I feel bit trapped. ^^;; I wish someone has told me this so I hope this post help other people who are thinking of joining verisure. The security system/technology sounds good though.
