If you live in an old house are you starting to think about how you are going to adapt it for future energy efficiency measures?

My house is insulated in the attic but it's an old house with high ceilings and stone walls. EPC rating is D. One room still has the period features that make installing internal insulated plasterboard unfeasible. I rely heavily on my gas boiler. I very much doubt a heat pump is going to heat the house to an acceptable standard.
I support Green initiatives but I don't have a bottomless pit of money. I feel the government should be raising more awareness. Maybe that will come with time but I'm wondering if I should be doing more to get my house in order, especially if they bring in mortgage rules that make lenders penalise those with homes like mine because they are rated below C or B in terms of energy efficiency.

@MrsSkylerWhite small wind turbines are really inefficient, as are small scale renewables generally. The "grid tie" equipment that takes the electricity generated for both solar and wind is a much larger proportion of the installation cost than it is for large scale. For wind the generation potential for varies with the square of the diameter - big is beautiful! Even once installed maintenance of large installations where crews can turn up and spend days or weeks is much more cost effective than driving to lots of small installations.

In 2021 36% of UK electricity generation came from renewable sources, there is planned increase of 400% over the next decade.

While we should all insulate and improve our energy efficiency as much as possible, in some instances big air source heat pumps heating leaky old houses with renewable energy may be the best option.
