Can we do this for £25k

I have seen the perfect house in the area I've wanted to buy in for the past 20 years, the space is perfect. However it's a repo and needs the whole inside done the house is a 90s build so should be fine structurally.
After fees deposit etc we would have around £25k, could we put in new kitchen, bathroom and ensuite decorate and flooring for this. I think we can but DH doesn't. Any advice before I get too excited?
We are in Central Scotland so no London prices.

Yeah my dh is quite handy with a paint brush and I'm not bad so no way would I pay someone £5k to paint my house.

I think you could if you went for mid range units, carpets etc. I have renovated a lot of houses and have managed on that sort of budget.

Normally I'd say no. But with the two main trades you might need in the family, the ability to do DIY and if you're happy to shop around for a bargain I'd say go for it!

I think 25 is really unrealistic unless you are doing all the work yourselves. The cost of materials has gone up massively. I can’t
Even get decent built-ins done for under 10k, much less a kitchen, bathroom, flooring, and a general decor refresh. I’d say 25k would stretch to kitchen and either floor or bathroom but not both.

You might be able to as you/your family members would be doing a lot yourselves.

But....we purchased a two bed detached repo in 2018 (in Wales, but we moved from South of England originally so are used to higher prices!) and have so far spent approx £100k on it.

We have also done majority ourselves - but not the electrics or plumbing which we did have to pay trades to do - and did have to get a borehole drilled which was about £11k 😮

The property is much older than yours though (400 years, not listed) so lots of period appropriate stuff 😉

Generally speaking it wasn't it a terrible condition, just that the people who'd been repossessed had let it go/rented it out for a few years so everything was done cheaply and - having sold a much larger, better appointed house, lol - we wanted everything to be good quality/top spec 😎

We still have to build an extension (extra reception room) and convert an outbuilding etc so not done with the spending yet!!!

The current cost of materials will definitely have an impact on your budget, even if you are DIYing, not to mention supply issues.

What is the sq ft- age?

We are doing a 3 bed detatched 2000 sqft.

So far we have spent 13k on all new plumbing and heating - and thats mates rates.

10k on new electrics - mates rates

20k on window restorations - keeping the originals and upgrading to double glazing

1.5k on roof repairs

And we still have plastering, flooring, kitchen and bathroom to do.

If you think a 90s house has seen better days, you should see ours......

Sorry, to be serious, I'd say yes, provided you don't want top quality materials, or you are a canny buyer who is good at getting bargains or renovating/ finding good second-hand kitchen units, for example, and/or you're willing to do a fair bit of the donkey work yourself.

We renovated our entire house for 7k. New kitchen (IKEA, FIL fitted it for us). New bathroom. Decorated throughout. Re plastered some rooms and flooring throughout.
Do your research and as get as much help as you can. 25k is totally doable
