Happy New Year All!

We are looking to do our kitchen, a like for like budget kitchen from b and q. We are not moving the sink or cooker and just replacing cupboards, sink etc. We are adding additional cupboards to one wall. The current kitchen has a larder cupboard with oven which we will replace with standard bottom and top wall cupboard. Current kitchen has tiles that we will change for either splashback or new tiles. Current kitchen doesnt have an extractor fan - who fits this?

Please could someone help with if we are missing any trades and will we require a plasterer?

Kitchen fitter - plumbing of sink, washing machine and disbwasher, removing and fitting cupboards, floor tiling
Electrician - lights, sockets, oven sockets, extractor fan?

  1. Are we missing any trades
  2. Will we need a plasterer or can we pull off old tiles and add new tiles
  3. Who fits an extractor fan - no fan currently

Thanks in advance.

The kitchen fitter can fit the extractor fan. Our kitchen fitter also organised the other tradesmen (electrician and plasterer).

Opinions will differ, but IME plumbers are better at plumbing than kitchen fitters are, and electricians are better at electrics.

You can have these trades do most of their work after you rip out the old kitchen, and before the new one goes in.

You need to clearly and accurately mark the positions of the appliances and units on your kitchen plan and on the walls and floor to prevent clashes.

If you have not previously had an extractor, you will need a new electrical outlet and switch, as well as a 150mm hole* in the wall, and so this is usually done by the electrician, who will also fit the extractor, unless you don't want her to.

(*old cooker hoods, and weak little wall extractors, used to use a 100mm hole)

Oh this is brilliant. Its a small kitchen so rip out old kitchen, bring electrician in, then kitchen fitter/plumber and hopefully should be all good.

Thanks
