Garden office/building

I really really really want a garden building to be my hobby space. If you've had one built, please could you tell me where you got it from, if you'd recommend it, how big it is and how much you paid all in? The space I've got would be about 3m wide by 5m deep once the existing shed has been removed. I've been looking wistfully at dunster house but they're quite expensive. Help me indulge my dream Grin

We've got one of these: www.leisurebuildings.com/product/brockham-cabin-shed-combination/

It's great because there's a separate shed at the back accessed by a door which can be fitted wherever you want - side, back or internally - so your hobby room doesn't have to double as storage for the garden tools!

We have one to use as an office, it’s great, we went to a local bespoke garden room company.

Advice I would give would be,

1 see what you are buying, don’t just buy online as you have no idea of the quality.

2 if you want to use the garden room all year round it will need to be double skinned and insulated, ours has special glass to prevent the room getting too hot in summer & retain heat in winter.

3 factor in the cost of the concrete base, power and internet connection, should you require it.

4 some can be installed under permitted development. Rules on this can be found online.

Ours all in cost about £15k.

Good luck.

We have one from Green Retreats. They have a showroom near Waddesdon. It's 4m x 3.5m. Cost around £14k with extra windows, electrics, heaters etc. That was several years ago, though.

Our log cabin came from Dunster House. I use it as an office unless we have visitors who are using the garden as it's. Nic epalce to sit and socialise as well. Luckily we have another room as an office indoors. I'm actually out in the cabin at the moment.

Very impressed with the service and delivery. Already had a base and I'm an electrician so power, lighting, heat etc. by me. Best thing we did during lockdown! With thickest walls, double glazing, underfloor and roof insulation, roof shingles, paint/sealant and two man delivery was £2.7k.

Several of their sites have buildings erected so you can view.

It's how we decided on ours. We had only looked at standard rectangular cabins whereas we had a slightly awkward tree that was in the way reducing the potential size we could go for. The type/shape of cabin we chose looks almost as if we had it specially built the way it misses the tree Grin The website was good for images but seeing them 'in the flesh' was so much better.

Also, don't use their installation service. It's very expensive and unless you have a lot of spare space around the area it's isn't possible. They wanted. clear metre space around all sides. Where we have ours there just wasn't that space.

Main thing is it's easy, like a jigsaw puzzle. I started Friday evening fear work and by Sunday evening it was all done. Just buy a rubber mallet for joining the logs together, much easier.

Friday evening after work not fear work Grin

I’ve got a Cabinmaster garden office. 3.5 x 2.5 meters. About £16K installed last Jan. Absolutely love it. They have a showroom in the East Midlands.

I read a article yesterday on garden building uses. Find a company who can design you a proper one. Budget wisely and take into account usage and so on. We have a garden shed that doubles up as a drinking room for any people who love to do so in private (mainly my dad).

1 meter from boundary is due to planning rules, assuming the garden room is over 15sq metres, otherwise this does not apply.
