Cost of recarpetting a house

Extended 1960s semi detached house
East mids
Would be lounge/ diner, stairs, and four bedrooms and upstairs hall.
I have no idea how much this would cost ? Just after a very rough idea if I'm talking £100s or £1000s.
Ideally a pretty forgiving carpet that the cat won't want to destroy !!

Ours cost £6k earlier this year - carpet was about £35/ sqm, underlay, whipping on stair runner, all door bar things, fitting etc.
4 (double) bed house, two sets of stairs, two reception rooms.

We just got new carpets and wooden flooring put down last month. I would highly recommend Tapi carpets really good quality with fantastic service and prices. They have stores UK wide and come out to show you samples and measures up for you.

It's possible to buy a whole roll of carpet wholesale. May be worth investigation.

For half decent prolyproplene I’d say £2,500-3,000. More if rooms are on the larger side of average.

£1-5k depending

1k for total shoestring end of roll bargains and low end quality
5k for nice upper mid range

I paid £1700 in 2019 for 3 double bedrooms, landing and stairs. Included new good underlay, all fitting and a good quality thick synthetic carpet. If you have cats get a cut pile as they love to rip loop pile to bits!

And I chose a recommended local independent fitter and told them what carpet I wanted and they ordered it direct for me from the manufacturer. This was much cheaper than buying from a high street store where they make a packet on mark up on the carpet and then pay a fitter a pittance to install it (who then wont take any responsibility if anything goes wrong and neither will the carpet shop).
