Does my kitchen worktop look properly fitted?

Kitchen nearly finished but I'm feeling uneasy with how obvious this looks ? Normal or not?

I think the direction of the margins and a strongly coloured bit connecting to a plain but make it more obvious but I don't think that's the fault of the fitter.

no mine is the same colour pallet as yours and you can barely see the join its fitted right into itself thats going to get grubby

Summersdreaming · 12/12/2021 14:17

I wouldn't be happy with that.

PickAChew · 12/12/2021 14:22

It looks like the edge has been damaged. I wouldn't be pleased with it at all.

Hard to tell from the photos, is it a clean cut OP or is the edge all chipped where it’s been cut?

If it’s a clean cut then I think it’s fine.

Yes the different direction markings make it fairly obvious but that’s inevitable if you choose a strongly marked surface for an L shaped area.

If it’s all chipped however… I’d be a bit unhappy as it makes the join bigger and messier.

In the middle photo it actually looks pretty good, I think because the join is less white more grey, which suggests it will look better with time as it dulls down.

I wouldn't be happy. With a stone or similar worktop you should barely be able to see the join at all and you certainly shouldn't be able to see any glue.

whataboutbob · 12/12/2021 17:29

He could have bothered to work with the pattern of the worktop and not against it...

Is this real stone or quartz? Why aren't the veining going the same way? My fitters paid particular attention to make sure the veining looked right at the join. Also the join looks bad - particularly at the curved bit - and why isn't it a straight join?

SollaSollew · 13/12/2021 14:17

I'd say not normal. If it's quartz worktop they could have done a much better job with the join I had to have one as we have one run that is longer than the worktop came in but they were very careful to match it up, the cut is very sharp and the join is barely noticeable . Without seeing the rest it's hard to know if they could have done a better job with the pattern matching but I don't think I'd be happy with it either.
