Choosing new roof tiles.

Hi, we're in a 1930s 3 bed ex council house and need a new roof. The roofer left a sample of tiles and I was wondering if any knowledgeable people can tell me the best tiles in the bunch and why? If any of you have any of the tiles on your roof can you tell me if you like them or not and do you have photos?
Thankyou

These are the first 4.

If it’s concrete tiles you’re going for I’d choose thin leading edge. They look lighter on the roof

These are the other two. He said the one on the right is prone to cracking at the minute so probably won't go for that one!

Surely the best match for the originals and surrounding houses? I assume you have similar houses surrounding you.

Most of the roofs are 70+ years old and the few houses that have had new houses have gone for different tiles. No one really seems to mind to be "in keeping" with the rest. I was more curious about durability, quality, etc.

I think you need to make your choice based on aesthetics. Look at a few pictures online of houses similar in style. Any roof tile should outlive you

Agree tiles don't really wear out for a very long time, I'd say smaller tiles look better but bigger ones are quicker and hence cheaper to fit.
If you're worried about looks a small plain tile is likely to be in keeping with an older house but if you're worried about cost stick with the big ones.

We got our roof done a few months back, same age house as yours. We got tiles v similar to your 4th one along. They’re not as attractive as the smaller original tiles (although significantly cheaper) but we’re in a road of terrace/semis of the same era and I’d say 50% have already been reroofed with the big modern ones so I wasn’t fussed about being in keeping.

We had our 1930s roof replaced recently. We went for factory clay tiles (last two) rather than concrete (your first four). They were recommended and much more aesthetic pleasing. Plus closer to the original 1937 hand-made clay tiles they were replacing. I'm delighted and think they look amazing. We liked them so much we replaced the concrete tiles on the single storey extension to match.

Photo showing the clay tiles in the main roof aca the cement tiles on the single storey extension for comparison

Don't get concrete, get clay to match the existing. So much nicer.

Plus if you use concrete you might have to have the timbers strengthened to take the extra weight.

We had our full roof replaced last year and used Marley double Roman tile in slate grey, looks like the ones 3rd along. We were told they were really hard wearing and long lasting, they look really smart. The rest of the streets pretty much had them done the same
