NEED ADVICE! FAMILY MOVING TO NORTH WALES

Hello all,

My family and I are looking to move to North Wales in the next year or so. We are looking for a nice rural village (or semi-rural depending on area) with a great sense of community with little shops, pubs, good schools and lots of things to do for children (my hubby would say next to the beach too but not essential). My baby is only 7 and a half months but looking to put down some roots before he starts school. I am English and my partner's Welsh (doesn't speak it) so preferably somewhere that isn't fully Welsh speaking although we will definitely give it a try. My partner would love to be by the beach but I've heard bad things about a couple of the coastal parts near Rhyl etc... We love the outdoors and have a bounding boxer dog to keep up active.

Can anyone help??

We’ve just moved to N Wales. We love it.There are plenty of nice villages around-do you commute and what is your budget? Would you prefer somewhere a bit more remote? Or is connectivity important to you? How important is the beach?

Hello, thanks for getting back to me! So I'm a nurse and am lucky to be able to work anywhere and my partner works from home/gets paid to travel so its not too much of an issue but connectivity would be preferable. We don't want to be too remote as we still want to be able to get to amenities easily, and there be lots to do for children so they aren't missing out. Beach I'd say is a must for my partner but not a must for me, we would prefer the location be perfect Smile

Rhosesmor, Llanfairfechan? We looked at both those areas but ended up moving further from the coast instead.
We love it here.

Where did you settle in the end? Coast doesn't need to be must for the perfect area xx

Would you be looking for work in a hospital? The two bigs ones are at Bodelwyddan and Bangor.

What size house do you need?

To be honest, I'm easy. I currently work privately but open to anywhere really. We would need a minimum of 3 bedrooms xx

If coast isn’t a deal-breaker then Ruthin.

We are between Wrexham and Mold on the edge of a little mountain.
Our children were born here and attend an English speaking school. For Primary there is usually a choice between Welsh and English speaking schools in each town. They all study it at high school.
The nearest hospitals here are Wrexham Maelor and Glan Clwyd but there is a private Spire hospital too.

There are lovely villages around Mold on the edge of the Clwydian Range AONB. Pantymwyn, Gwernymynydd, Cilcain and Nannerch all beautiful. Area between Mold and Ruthin is lovely, Llanarmon, Maeshafn etc. A car is essential though so for teens, it may be a bit remote. But all within 10-15 mins of Mold. Nearer the coast, look at Dyserth, Gwaenysgor, and if you want a town-Prestatyn especially Upper Prestatyn is nice and on the coast.St Asaph is also lovely with a bustling feel. Some parts of Holywell are nice with houses having views of the estuary. Along the coast, you have mainline train stations with Chester, Manchester and Liverpool reachable-the inland towns and villages rely on buses.
We moved to just over the border, so more a suburb of Chester really! It’s a busy village but in easy reach of the coast (Llandudno 45 mins) and the hills. But very good connectivity to the motorway network and so commutable to other areas. And be aware, if you do move to one of the more elevated villages, they can get heavy snowfall! PM me if you like!
