Cheapest possible way to do a new kitchen

What is the cheapest possible way to do it if you have someone who can fit cupboards etc? My FIL is pretty handy but we just realised our new house has a much worse kitchen than we recalled 😱 Is there a cheap way to do it?? Kitchen is about 3m by 2m. Thank you.

IKEA?

Keep the cupboard carcasses and just buy new doors for them and new worktops?

If you get free labour costs you are half way there.
How good are the cupboards inside ?
B and Q used ti do some decent units that were reasonable.

Cupboards are flimsy and utterly filthy/stained inside so seems short sighted to try and keep them?

We bought extra units from DIY Kitchens, came ready assembled, had the original units sprayed to match by a local company. Joiner installed new units, handles and worktops. very pleased with finished kitchen.

I got a Wren flat pack kitchen and an independent fitter. It worked out much cheaper.

Wickes, IKEA, or Howdens if you can find a helpful builder friend with an account.
Howdens cabinets come pre-built, great time saver.
Wickes kitchens are good value and can be picked inshore so no ordering and waiting.
IKEA- good quality and very easy to fit once the supporting wall emails are fitted. Only draw back is the small or lack of service ducting which means that some services might need modification or re-routing.
There are alot of Internet sites selling work tops of all types at below market price.

For a smaller sized kitchen you might find damaged sections of worktop that you can fet for a good £ and cut down to size.

Top Worktops are great for wood work top.

Tons of tiles online are good.

I just fitted a kitchen (well, I organised the fitting!). Cheapest by far was B&Q. They were able to recommend a local independent fitter. The whole thing cost £4k including fitting, and that wasn't me choosing the cheapest units either - I could have done it for more like £2k if I'd gone for the basics and a composite worktop.

Your best shot is a second hand kitchen via www.usedkitchenexchange.co.uk or another similar company. The kitchen is professionally removed and inspected for quality, delivered and guaranteed. You can get a pretty good kitchen much cheaper than buying new.

We've just done ours, cheapest was units online. The units come assembled with the doors & drawers on so are easy to fit. Plus they're painted inside, we went with a dark grey shaker & it looks fantastic.
