New combi boiler, taking out old pipes / boiler / tank. New pipe work, 11 new double radiators, new pipe for gas cooker and connection, removal of all old stuff. 4 bedroom house. Most radiators staying in same position. £4,000.

Has been nearly impossible to get quotes, so it's hard to know if this is reasonable or not.

For everything you have listed. I think that's a really good price. I had similar work done a few years ago and it came to just under 4k.

saleorbouy · 30/11/2021 14:47

Boiler approx £1400, Rads £50 - £100 each, Pipes and fittings £500. It seems reasonable with labour. Your fitter will make a good few ££££'s scrapping the old copper cylinder, pipes and boiler too.
Don't forget to paint behind the rads before re-fitting.

Starcaller · 30/11/2021 14:48

That seems a good price to me!

roses2 · 30/11/2021 14:51

Sounds really cheap if it includes all parts - which boiler model?

Africa2go · 30/11/2021 16:05

Also think it sounds really cheap! Is that a plumber / heating engineer that has come recommended?

MintJulia · 30/11/2021 16:12

Double rads, £100 each fitted.
Boiler - Depends on power. I paid £1800 for a 24kw unit,
Three days work at £250 per day.
New copper pipework, maybe £250.

So anywhere between £3400 and £3800, plus disposal of rubbish, minus scrap copper.

It sounds reasonable Smile

WhatDidISayAlan · 30/11/2021 18:07

Sounds good - boyfriend just paid £4800 for similar, with boiler being resited upstairs in a four bed house in the north west.

Terminallysleepdeprived · 30/11/2021 18:09

sounds a bit low for everything quoted above, but the price of the boiler can very things massively. Has he told you what make and model boiler? There are some I wouldn't suggest you touch with a barge pole (i am a former estates manager for a massive landlord company)

A Worcester Bosch boiler

We've used him before for a gas safety on a rental and he was expensive for that which made me worry he would be expensive for this. Have been though his quote carefully and googled some of the stuff he's listed - types of radiators / boiler etc and it seems pretty reasonable.

If you know the model quoted I would Google, some are excellent and some not so much, although generally worcester borsch are usually reliable

The one he's suggested is coming in at around £1500-£1600

That seems cheap especially for a Worcester Bosch. Boiler alone can be £1500-2k.

mightbeyesmightbeno · 30/11/2021 22:02

Ok looks like we'll be going for it then! Thanks everyone for your opinions.

We've just paid just over £4K for a new boiler, pipework, 9 new radiators etc It was a biggish job as boiler had to be totally relocated.
I'd say that's definitely a good price!
