Hi everyone, wondering if you could give me any help inspiration or advice with my driveway situation...

My house is in the corner of a cul-de-sac, with a slim long drive from the road/pavement to the front garden.

I've created a rough illustration and House 1 outlined in red is my house and driveway: ibb.co/kGMkYft

One side of my drive way has a grass strip and the other side has wooden fences that backs onto gardens.

How we usually park our cars looks like this: ibb.co/fnRKZp0

House 2 does not own a car, but House 3 parks their van/car on House 2 drive way. (There is no reasoning with House 3 neighbour).

A random visitor car usually parks on the road at the end of my driveway. It's not ideal but I can manage to get my car in and out.

I also have to park my car at the very end of my driveway, otherwise this happens: ibb.co/8PSyP4n

A visitor (usually to House 3) will park on my drive and completely block me in. On a few occasions the car has been left there ALL weekend).

Also occasionally this happens: ibb.co/zFb1DH5

House 3 will park their van/car anywhere on my driveway behind my car!

I am looking for any suggestions on what to do DIY wise?... I have thought about putting bollard lights in the green grass strip to stop the van from being able to park behind my car.

I've also thought about putting fences into the grass strip and a gate across my drive. However the visitor car may then stop me from being able to get in the space to park in front of the gate on drive.

Unfortunately the police/council don't really seem to be of much help... House 3&4 are rented with no respect for anyone else. Have tried to find their landlord details but to no avail.

Start with a fence / hedge on the grass strip, doesn’t need to be fancy. Or perhaps a few large rocks?

mumwon · 22/11/2021 13:47

heavy pots with plants as per @sunnytimes83

Look into 'Panacea Fencing'. You can spike it into grass and it's high enough to be seen. You can also get gates for it.

I'd absolutely fence the lot and put a stop to that shit.

Massive rocks cemented into the ground. I’m raging on your behalf.

May I say regardless of the issue have Star for the pictures

That is an odd layout. Is there a sign at the end of your driving to state it belongs to your house? I'd start with that so nobody can claim to be unaware.

You could put the fence and gate slightly further up the drive so if the visitors park on the road you'd still have room to manoeuvre round. Although that may encourage them to park fully on the drive.

Lovely diagrams! Absolutely fence the whole length of the driveway if you can and put gates at the end. This should stop the van fucking about and parking across your drive and hopefully visitor car will perhaps realise that access is required if you stick a sign on the gates. Can't be worse than you have at present. Can you ask for double yellow lines to be installed where visitor car currently parks?

  1. Ask council for 6ft/2 meters of double yellow lines each side of the road in front of the drive ways. This will sort out on road parking.
  1. Fence or boulders etc along edge of your drive.
  1. Penguin bollard at end of your drive.
  1. Suggest to House 2 the also put a fence or boulders along edge of their drive and to add a gate positioned after the drive for 3 & 4.

I think you and house 2 need to gang up on the fuckers, and put a diagonal fence/gate across so that they can't access either of your driveways - from the very bottom of the drive of house 3/4, right down to the road.

Incidentally it looks like you can find out landlord's details here fairly easily - have you tried that yet? Excellent diagrams by the way Star
