Karndean Herringbone or similar

Is anyone willing to share pictures of your Karndean (or similar - Amtico, Moduleo etc) herringbone floors? I am looking for a warm mid-colour oak. Not too light or dark. Something like morning oak parquet in Karndean but would love to see some actual pictures of luxury vinyl tiles in a mid tone. Thanks!

We’ve just had an engineered oak floor installed in our living room yesterday! I was a bit nervous about it, as I love a cosy carpet, but DH wanted it, and it was his turn to choose (i chose carpet last time and the cats have ruined it!).
I absolutely love it - it’s warm underfoot, reflects the light slightly although it’s not shiny, and looks fab.
It cost us a total of £1600 for the flooring and fitting which included having our floor screeded as it was so uneven. We’ve got wide 2m planks. (the trim round the edge needs waxing as we couldn’t get hold of the exact colour match!)

Oh and our room is approx 16 sq m

We have something very similar to Karndean in our kitchen (supplied by the kitchen company and fitted by a qualified floorer) and the surface is badly scratched and, in some places, completely worn off where the chairs are. We are replacing it soon but not sure what with yet

We had Amtico Spacia in our last house throughout the downstairs (except living room) and in our bathrooms. After 6 years it still looked like new (apart from one dent where my husband dropped a metal filing cabinet, and they came and replaced the tile). It’s warm underfoot, hard wearing, easy to clean, waterproof.

We loved it so much that we are having it fitted in our new house as we renovate. The bathrooms are normal plank style but our herringbone small plank style downstairs is being fitted this week in amtico spacia honey oak. We went with John Lewis as they are registered as premium fitters. Will post a pic when it’s done!

I glanced at title and thought for a sec it was a baby name thread!

😂😂😂

What went through my mind in that split second was... Hmm v posh. Reminds me of Benedict cumberbatch..

😂 I think Amtico Karndean would be a super posh name

Please do post your pic after ether J Lewis fitting. I’d be keen on seeing their installation after my Karndean non-premium fitter!

Karndean in kitchen /dining /sitting room . Country oak I think it was. It’s fabulous, hard wearing and practical always looks great. Has never scratched but has some small scuff marks where I’ve dragged furniture to clean . I’d have it again. I think there are different qualities of this product and we went for the top end and it was worth it. It’s 5 years old and gets a lot of wear .

We've not got herringbone but amtico spacia in bathroom and the expensive stuff in bit extension kitchen dining living ubiquitous extension.

They both look good as new. Neither have any scratches visible even in main room which is a v dark wood colour and we aren't careful at all. Put down 2010.

CheeseMmmm · 22/11/2021 20:45

OP re name 'Tico' for short that sounds a proper posh nickname 😂😂😂

oneglassandpuzzled · 22/11/2021 20:50

We’re about to have amtico signature fitted in a kitchen and utility room. We chose that spec of amtico as it was recommended. Hopefully it will be ok.

@Remmy123 any chance of a pic? I’ve just ordered a load of the V4 herringbone samples. Particularly like the Frozen Umber one online.

Remmy123 · 23/11/2021 14:32

Frozen umber is lovely and was close contender .. I have brushed and laquered

Once you see real wood herringbone the fake stuff just looks inferior.

Mine has worn so well

CelticPromise · 23/11/2021 15:00

We have Universal LVT, it was recommended as hard wearing enough for restaurants etc. I can't recall the colour name. It's been down about a year and very pleased so far. We had excellent fitters, I agree it makes a difference.

We had j2 Flooring fitted in RTP02 Golden Oak, is so good, we had Karndean in our previous house and this is exactly the same, in fact slightly better for cleaning i feel. We did get a price comparison on the knight tile range and van gogh range and it was over £2000 more. So happy with this, see the photos attached, to see what it looks like.

I’ve had Amtico Spacia down for 6 years, dog kids etc and it’s fabulous. Think I’ve got one dent where I dropped a knife and it wedged into the floor 🤦‍♀️ I’d definitely have again.

The only thing I don’t like is that you can’t steam the floors.

user1471542288 · 02/03/2022 17:54

This is my Karndean floor - so easy to keep clean.

would love to hear what you chose in the end @LivingOnAnIsland
I need to make a decision on kitchen floor next week and I am so confused!!

BackT · 05/11/2022 09:06

I have Polyflor and it's pretty much bomb proof.

My mum has engineered oak and although it looks good, it marks so so easily.
