Leafiest areas of Liverpool?

Just looking for recommendations, we would ideally want something with a good sized garden and a Victorian-era build. Quiet would be wonderful, too! The villages outside of Liverpool are too far out, really. Thanks.

Budget? Do you need walkable access to a high street?

TellMeItsPossible · 18/11/2021 13:28

Budget is about 380k, walkable to a highstreet would be nice, but not a deal breaker.

Crosby is worth a look I would say. It's technically Sefton, but 20 minutes on the direct train to the city centre, so comparable with much of the leafier bits on the south side. On the whole gardens are bigger than south Liverpool, some beautiful property and you be get both the beach and rural areas on the doorstep. Crosby centre has a couple of shopping and bar/cafe/restaurant areas.

The Avenues around Sefton Park have very handsome Victorian houses-large rooms with high ceilings, but on street parking. Walk to Sefton Park and across to Lark Lane. South Liverpool-Aigburth, Childwall etc is very leafy and naice but I think it’s quite suburban-lots of interwar semis. Depends on the vibe you’re looking for.

South Liverpool is what I would consider 'leafy' - 380 would get you a lovely Victorian property (terrace or semi) close to Sefton Park (Greenbank/Wavertree side, or Aigburth Rd side), or a slightly newer but still period house off Allerton Rd towards Childwall. Victorian housing stock tends not to have brilliant gardens regardless of how much you spend (with some exceptions but not really at your budget) but you'd get some outside space and proximity to excellent parks/green space. The slightly new semis in Wavertree Gardens/Queens Drive/Childwall etc have great gardens, but tend to be less accessible to a high street. Lots on the market need work doing to them.

This is on a nice road close to Greenbank park: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/116463407#/?channel=RES_BUY

Woolton village, Bits of Allerton and Aigburth. I always wanted to live in Allerton. It’s got a lovely little high street

Those are great starting points, thank you both.

Wavertree Garden Suburb-good shout, @bravotango. Picturesque cottages and cute feel make it more attractive than the rows of semis. My husband used to love in Childwall and bordering Calderstones is a very nice area but expensive. Cressington and Grassendale in between Garston and Aigburth have lovely roads and houses. Sought after area though

I grew up in Calderstones, it's very leafy.

Have you considered the Wirral? Smile

Do you need schools? West Kirby, Hoylake, Meols are all nice and the train line runs into Liverpool. Depends what else you need apart from being leafy!

Subbaxeo · 19/11/2021 10:07

I work on Wirral. That’s a good recommendation. What sort of place are you after? The Dee estuary side is very leafy but possibly too far out for you. Oxton would be a good place to look-nice architecture and villagey feel with trendy shops. Some areas of Prenton. Dibbinsdale is lovely with lots of handsome trees planted along the roads and walking distance to train into Liverpool. Higher Bebington.
