I have two storage heaters one of which has stopped working, its an economy seven heater, any recommendations on what storage heater should I replace it with which is more up to date, no gas available on the property.

Would be grateful for any suggestions.

We fit Dimplex Quantum Storage heaters (social landlord), majority of people find them brilliant and much, much more efficient.

^^ those quantum ones!
I had them fitted a couple of years ago at my flat, replacing ancient ones and they are brilliant.

Think quantum. Is your best bet.
I have asked my housing association if they will replace my 20 year old storage heater but they won't.
I just find with the storage heaters you can't get instant heat you have to be one step ahead of the weather as they heat up over night to release heat the next day.

I had Dimplex NSH for 25-years when we weren't on mains gas and found them a very reliable source of heat but to get the most out of them you don't want E7 but the next generation tariff which was (is?) E10.
2.5Hrs off-peak in the afternoon, 2.5Hrs in the evening plus 5Hrs at night. This means that unlike E7 where you have a nice warm house in the morning but by evening it is starting to cool down a bit, you can have the heaters charging moderately during the night but then take on a full charge in the afternoon and again in the evening.
The other upside is that you can have a smaller water tank as it is being heated (off-peak) three times a day. We NEVER ran out of piping hot water!

Of course it goes without saying that just for the times when you aren't there to set the heat input (if you go away for instance) you should have some form of back-up (an electric fire, fan heater etc).

You may find you get them sooner than you think, there is an awful lot of funding coming out for retrofitting properties. I have spent the last week looking at properties rated Epc E-G for improvement works. Fingers crossed it will be brought forward. Interestingly our life cycle for electric heating replacement is 20 years, so if you were with us you would be imminent!
