Is there an ingenious way to do this? Are this command strips any good?

I think command strips are good but after one of my pictures fell off the wall and nearly smashed I always use more than recommend on the pack.

SoupDragon · 12/11/2021 16:58

I used command strips and was absolutely amazed when they came off the painted walls with no damage whatsoever. I would use more than necessary though, just to be safe.

I've used the command strips and been impressed. I would reccommend heating them up slightly with a haridryer before you remove them, as it loosens the glue and helps them come off without damage.

Another one recommending command strips. The pack will tell you the weight that they can take as they come in various shapes and sizes.

Command strips but put the strips along the whole perimeter of the frame. A small A6 frame fell off the wall into the toilet when I only put a couple of inches along the long edges.

Great advice everyone, thanks. And they really come off without damaging the wall (rental property)?

Yes, but make sure you read the removal instructions and follow them.

I'd use the Command hooks rather than just sticking a framed picture to the wall with the strips, not least because you need to be able to get at the tab on the end of the strip to remove it from the wall. If you stick something to the wall just using a strip it's difficult to keep the tab accessible without it being visible.

Dont use them with A1 size. I smashed one of mine.

PigletJohn · 13/11/2021 08:59

Is this a rented home?

Bagelsandbrie · 13/11/2021 09:00

We have a lot of condensation issues in our house and found the command strips didn’t stick properly sadly. We just hammer a nail in and hope for the best. Blush

PigletJohn · 13/11/2021 09:10

I see now it is a rental

If you use mail-in hooks, but fix them a couple of inches below the ceiling, you can use hanging wire or nylon cord. When you remove them later, the mark will be out of eyeline and not noticeable.

"Nail-in"

These are the ones I used - they are labelled "large". I've used them on my wall to hang wooden drawers with small "nicknacks" on them.

When we peeled them off the walls at my mum's (matt paint) none of them left a mark at all.

mrsbyers · 13/11/2021 09:19

Command are brilliant , I think I should have shares in them

haba · 13/11/2021 12:06

SoupDragon may I ask how heavy those drawers are, approximately? I am trying to gauge how heavy a frame they could support safely, thanks.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2021 13:06

An empty drawer is 900g and, looking at the ones on the wall, there isn't anything really heavy in them. I think I used 4 of the strips I linked to earlier to be safe.

The pack has a weight recommendation on them so I'd use that as a guide and use more than recommended if it has glass in the frame.

haba · 13/11/2021 14:28

Thank you!

Margo34 · 13/11/2021 19:33

Don't use command strips on walls with paper! Our house is paint on paper and the command strips ripped the paper 😳

WoolyMammoth55 · 13/11/2021 22:24

OP I've heard mixed things about command strips - my best advice would be to think about frame weight, use ones with plastic not glass in them so they are considerably lighter.

You'll also be glad of this if the frame does fall - you won't have shards of glass everywhere!

I think for a lightish plastic frame the command hooks do the job and as long as stuck on plaster not wallpaper you should be ok when removing.

Best of luck!
