Ball park figure for kitchen design

I know I'm basically asking how long is a piece of string but we have a good sized kitchen dining room and I want to have it redone. It's 4m squared. How can I find out how much we need to save? I appreciate there are lots of variables - can anyone tell me how much it cost them? We won't go for most expensive worktops or anything like that.

£15k . For mid based range is my guess . Could go for cheaper and could go far higher. But that's about the middle I think.

Do you mean 4sqm OP? That's pretty tiny!

I say this as someone with a 5sqm kitchen.

I had mine redone two years ago for £8k, not including appliances, but did include floor. That was for basic cupboards and laminate worktop, and all fitting. Took a week.

Was pricy as London. Could definitely have done cheaper

Our kitchen is 16m² and we are about to do ours. We already have a range and large fridge/freezer so costs are units, new dishwasher, new washer and dryer, work surface, sinks and taps, flooring, tiles, paint. We will fit it ourselves.

Cost is 3.2k. They said it would be double that to have somebody else to do it.

Oops no not 4m squared! D'oh. It's 4m by 4m so 16 sq m.

@ShowOfHands that's interesting. We have the applicances (range, fridge freezer, dishwasher) already and one wall of units that I'd like to keep.

We are doing a 4.5 x 5.5m kitchen at the moment. Ikea carcasses are about £1.5k, getting doors and worktop separately and you can spend a little or a great deal on either! I would say £15k all in is a good ballpark, but factor in flooring, lighting, electrical sockets etc as well, plus handles, taps.

Both Ikea and DIY kitchens will let you play around with their planners, which will give you an idea of roughly how much you would be looking at for the bargain end of the market.

Sorry just realised you want to keep some units - that will save you a bit, look at companies who specialise in replacing doors and you should be able to get a new look fairly cheaply if there's minimal refitting to be done.

Our L shape kitchen plus 3 lader units cost around 3k from ikea, but installing it and plaster, electrics (new plugs and lights) flooring, tiles, appliances (fridge freezer, oven, microwave, hob) , took it to just over 7.5k.

Our actual kitchen is about the same size although it's attaced to a dining room so flooring etc would have been more.
