Do landlords care about weed smoking tenants?

If you are a landlord would you be bothered?
My neighbours smoke weed everyday. The smell is awful and comes through the walls and into the garden. I'm thinking there's no point telling the landlord as they probably won't care.
Just to add, the neighbours are not growing it as there is no space for them to do so (one bed house).

If there's a rule about not smoking in the house they'd care yes. Some landlords do ask that there isn;t any indoor smoking.

But if there's not a rule...well, they won't give a crap probably.

I rent houses our. Much prefer stoners than drinkers. They are never going to smash up my kitchen pissed

If I was the landlord I would care but I don’t think there’s anything I could legally do about it? I doubt it would be grounds for eviction. You may be able to report to police because weed is still illegal.

Yes!

When we lived in an apartment block, one of the neighbours loved a bit of weed of a summers evening. All our windows and doors opened out onto the balcony, so it was really noticeable.

I was pregnant and the smell made me feel ill. I emailed the management agent and asked them to send a comms out to the other residents or something. They emailed back asking for the details of the neighbours as smoking weed was expressly against the terms of the rental agreement and they would be pursuing it further. As I was not a suspicious villager in Vichy France, I declined to provide any further information, but they were furious about it!

I'm a landlord and my tenancy agreement states no smoking.

Smoking in a rental with a no smoking agreement would make me extremely pissed off as a landlord. I've never had to deal with smoking tenants but I'd assume it could result in eviction. I'd certainly not renew the tenancy.

If the landlord does allow smoking though i assume it would be much harder to get them to do anything about it.

I would evict a tenant who was found to be smoking or using any illegal drugs in the property. For those who are confused cannabis is most certainly illegal in the U.K.

You can put any old crap in a tenancy agreement doesnt mean it can be enforced

What does this mean? Confused

As long as other things are fine, especially rent paid on time and property in reasonable condition I don't see why they would to be honest. People are allowed "quiet enjoyment" and things like non-smoking clauses are legally very difficult to enforce and sec 21 evictions are slow and a bit pointless if you have a half decent paying tenant.

I wasn’t about to grass (excuse the pun) on a specific neighbour and potentially make them homeless, so I refused to give any more info to the agent.

It's not illegal to smoke it at home so you cant report for that...contract may state no smoking so that is only option to explore.

I doubt landlords would care as long as the rent is paid. From my experience landlords are not even that bothered about hanging onto quiet, decent tenants.
