1990s house - Window colour

We live in a 90s build house on a small development of similar houses. They all have the rosewood/mahogany windows and doors.

We need new windows and I don't want rosewood but will something different look awful and out of place?

The stone is very pale so I think white would look a bit washed out, and grey would look smart, but worried that grey is too trendy.

Has anyone replaced their 90s estate house windows and made it look good?

Thanks so much @LittleOverWhelmed that is really helpful. Is there a mix of window colours on your estate? No one here has white so I'm finding it hard to visualise.

I generally love anthracite but do agree it can look too stark/bold aggressive on some properties. I think some of the more
Muted colours can look great provided you choose the correct modern style of window. Such as modern shapes/openings. I'd be doing a lot of drives and walks and taking photos. Ive recently seen some colours used id never have thought of but they look sensational. Do the windows company have software where they can mock it up and change the colours for you to look at on screen?

Something like anthracite grey really works if you get the design right! I think it has a quality where it suits 90's homes really nicely, gives them a nice sleek feel - if you're still looking for those kinds of windows then you could try finding them with this www.doubleglazingontheweb.co.uk/news/window-trends-anthracite-grey/

We are in a stone cottage but have cream frames with a light green door. May be an option ?

We have a 1990s house where the whole street originally had rosewood/mahogany windows. One house has replaced with white upvc and it does look awful and stands out like a sore thumb, sorry. The others have all replaced their windows with a similar colour to the original so still look in keeping with each other. Agree if there was a mixture on the street it wouldn’t be an issue!

We have a 90s house but it’s red brick. We’ve got these windows (this is not my house but looks exactly like it) it’s called Painswick, it’s a light grey with a green undertone.

I decided against anthracite because I thought it might go out of fashion or look very much of a time rather than timeless and it isn’t our forever house.
