Where to buy house under £190k?

Where can I buy a 2 bed house with garden for under £190k?

Nice, clean, safe area with good primary schools and plenty to do within a 15 minute drive.

Being able to walk into town is a bonus but appreciate this may not be possible, depending on house prices.

Looking for England, not NE.

Much of cumbria thats not the lakes district!! Carlisle/Penrith/west coast. Many of the towns and larger villages too

@sunseasandgalore

Coastal would be a bonus but could be expensive or run down depending on area!
North Devon

You can buy a 2 bedroom house for £190k pretty much anywhere in the East Midlands, ie Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Lincolnshire. Your budget won’t stretch to the most desirable towns, eg Bakewell, Market Harborough, Stamford, Ashbourne but other than those you really can take your pick. Even Belper is within reach. Only Lincs will offer coastal options, obv.

Seem to be lots in Plymouth from 120 upwards. www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/115471502#/?channel=RES_BUY

I know you’re looking for England, but I moved to North wales (not far from the boarder) and the property here is so cheap. Coast and mountains, 3 bed house with massive garden easy for £190k. Beautiful towns with good schools.

Lincolnshire

Close to an outstanding school. Lovely village. Easy accessible to York, Leeds, Hull.

Bridgwater Somerset, which is fairly close to the coast
Bridgwater is a shit hole

Lincoln

(Not the ermine, St Catherine's, sincil Bank, birchwood. St Giles. Boultham. But most other areas in Lincoln are nice)

MissCherryCakeyBun · 31/10/2021 21:43

Most of Somerset but very little of Dorset.

Plenty of nice 2 bed houses with gardens for under £190k in our little N Shropshire town which has swimming pool, two good schools, library, clubs, nice high st and a train station.
We are 10 miles (10 mins on the train) from beautiful Shrewsbury where there's loads going on and just at hour from Liverpool, Manchester & Birmingham.

We are in Wem.
Relocated from London with three small kids 11 years ago. Love it.
Good luck.

Shropshire. 210 two plus bed houses for sale currently.

Agreed, just moved to the area and it is amazing. So much nicer than the south east. Wish we had done it years ago.

Agree with this.

Chester is in your budget, but 2-3 miles west of Chester is the North Wales border.

Gorgeous and cheaper.

Not where, but when.....1989.....😉

BlueMongoose · 01/11/2021 18:46

NE Lancs. That money would get you something in a decent area in one of the smaller towns. And nice countryside on your doorstep.

Norfolk, have a look at Diss as it's a bit of a hidden gem!

Another vote for Staffs. Seriously good value at the moment and a very pleasant place to live.

annawi · 01/11/2021 22:00

If you want coast how about Southsea / Portsmouth area? You could get a terraced house within a 15 minute walk of the beach and theres lots to do in the city and surrounding countryside as well as places like Chichester/Southampton/Guildford nearby
