Who do I need to move a kitchen?

I want to move my kitchen to another part of the house, but get quotes first. Do I need a builder? I don't need anything built as such. I think it'll be mainly plumbing, carpentry and electrics.

We moved ours. You need water supply. Mains preferably. You need updated electrics for your oven. You need way more sockets. You need to think about waste water. Where are the drains? What about where lights will go? Can you extract to an outside wall? All of this costs money but moving ours was the best thing we did!

Thank you. Did you co ordinate yourself or use a builder. We have a washing machine on the other side of the wall (in garage) so I'm assuming there is water and waste. I'm so excited. This could be brilliant! I've been looking at houses on rightmove but it's basically because I don't want the game if doing my own house up. It would be much cheaper to stay.

We used an architect as it wasn’t the only thing we were doing. We were trying to get better use of the house and more light into the kitchen. We realised our old kitchen didn’t have a great view of the garden and fields/woods beyond but our cloakroom, unused conservatory and laundry room did. So it was all moved around. As the laundry had water and waste we didn’t have to bring in all services. You would need to consider gas supply too if you need it. We went air source heat pump!

You need a self employed kitchen fitter, ideally one who is also a plumber. An older experienced person generally can adapt units as needed too!

Before you get to that stage you need services in the right place. Electrics will need sorting. So planning the kitchen with a builder will work. Or use an architectural technician if more is involved. Lots of kitchen companies engage self employed fitters. But they won’t install waste pipes and water pipes. It’s really a building job and it depends on the kitchen you want regarding fixing it. Then there’s the floor…..

Thanks so much... Lots to think about. There is a floor but it may need be to be removed for waste pipes...

I could be wrong but I think you need building regulations sign off from the council if you are moving a kitchen.

Yes you almost certainly do. A competent builder could help you get that or better still an Architectural technician.

Ahh thanks!
