How much bloody longer?

DD is a cash buyer
She put an offer in on 6th August

We are still not even at a position to exchange yet!

The solicitor keeps says she has to deal with people in order but I think she has bumped the people who were paying stamp duty over us

How much bloody longer?

Probably another month at least then to completion. Have all the searches been completed?

KatyMac · 22/10/2021 16:04

Late September I think

it's only been 10 weeks - purchases are taking forever at the moment.

gukvguk · 22/10/2021 16:53

We were same timescale this time last year as in we offered in August. We completed 11th December.

I was cash buyer. Offered in late June completed five weeks later. My solicitor was on top of it and seller had already moved abroad so their solicitor had all the documents needed. The biggest issue was one of the searches which took almost five weeks but as soon as it was in my solicitor reviewed it and we completed a few days later. You need both sides to be on board. Good luck.

It is doable. We sold on 5th august. Only three in the chain and we exchanged on Thursday and moving in next week.

But my solicitor has been so on the ball and chasing all the time. I keep recommending her to everyone she has been brilliant. I have not had to chase once. It really is all down to them and how quick they work. But i agree with a previous poster. Something somewhere is obviously making you wait.

We had our offer accepted in May…we’re looking at a completion date of mid-November. Sigh.

Lonecatwithkitten · 23/10/2021 07:06

We are cash buyers offer accepted the 28/6 we exchanged last week and will complete in two weeks time.
Since I bought 7 years ago the searches are more involved and the solicitors are more twitchy about even minute detail.
Before the 30/9 the people wanting to make that deadline were prioritised.
After that it has actually been our vendors estate agent who has got things moving and got us over the line by being a terrier at everyone's heels.
But we are told at the start 12-14 weeks is normal now days.

If the solicitor is saying she’s not dealing with the case then that’s a bit shocking. Can you threaten for your daughter to find another?

But maybe your daughter needs to deal with it, I am confused about whose house it is.

KatyMac · 23/10/2021 07:21

It's DD's house - I'm just invested as they move out of my house as soon as it goes through and they have been here since last February

Ha ha, that makes sense. God. Grin

KatyMac · 23/10/2021 14:25

This will (hopefully) be the third time she moves out

Moving home because she lost her job cos of covid was a shock to both our systems

Bringing her boyfriend with her was a bigger shock for me

Staying for 20 months has been a little trying
