Going off sick after mortgage offer/before exchange!

Does anyone know if this will be a problem?

DH works for the NHS and is currently experiencing a stress-related condition, he really needs to take some time off but is worried about jeopardising our mortgage offer!

Realistically, would the lender even know he was on sick leave, would they want to know? Would they withdraw the offer?

It wouldn't affect job security or income.

I still remember my auntie's story of looking her mortgage broker dead in the eye while 7 months pregnant and confirming she wasn't expecting a change in circumstances. He couldn't say anything beyond "are you sure?" And didn't mention the pregnancy in the paperwork. The lenders never found out. They did write to her employer to confirm her employment just before exchange because there had been long delays (approx 7 mths). Her employer confirmed she had worked there since whatever date (years!) and her salary was X amount. They didn't mention the impending maternity leave she didn't ask them to hide it, she had no idea they'd be asked again). She didn't know the HR team so thinks it was just the wording of their request.

@mortgagequeries

The mortgage offer does say something like "a material change in your circumstances" but as pay would stay the same and it won't affect job security I'm not sure it would be a material change...
How long will pay stay the same for? How long has he been signed off for?
