Currently live in South Kensington, would love to stay here but really want more space and can’t afford to add another £X00k to the mortgage, so somewhat reluctantly looking at moving.

Currently looking at Richmond, Wimbledon, St John’s Wood. Ideally want to be near a big park and needs to be a decent journey by car to LHR as I travel weekly. Any tips on other places I should consider would be gratefully received.

Haha definitely considering Maida Vale, it’s a bit further from Regents Park than I’d like but it fits the bill in lots of other ways.

@KittyBurrito

Ham is an easy walk into Richmond, and is considerably more affordable?
An easy walk on the roads where is narrows by the Dysart pub so much there is no pavement and then all along Petersham Road which is poorly lit at night.

Or the easy walk along the path by the Thames which is today and floods frequently?

Confused

Today?! Tidal

Really need more of a steer. Budget, house or flat, other needs?
And getting to Heathrow, so you go by taxi or need to on easy public transport? Is it only Heathrow or is Gatwick an option?

A flat overlooking Battersea Park might be ideal. Or a house in Teddington near Bushy Park. Or Windsor. Maybe Sonning and farmland rather than a park?

Cardboard33 · 18/10/2021 20:43

Teddington might be ideal? It's on the x26 bus route to LHR or a quick car/Uber journey. Depends how far out of town you want to go though - I work in SK and live near Teddington. It takes me about an hour door to door but obviously I can have a way bigger property than I could ever afford in SK. If I wanted to spend more money on property then I'd head further towards Richmond/Chiswick, I reckon. Putney also isn't a bad shout although I'd say that depends on your stage of life.

Imnotafemistbut · 18/10/2021 20:47

Isleworth will get you lots more space

We are in W8 at the moment and moving to East Sheen.

Primrose Hill, or Belsize Park? Buy depends what you are looking for St John's Wood is mainly post war flatted blocks, PH and BP Stucco houses or flat conversions.

If you live in S Ken I'm sure all of these areas are familiar so perhaps you are considering further west. Personally if I were heading further thsn those I would leave London completely.

Richmond, Teddington, Barnes, Putney.

How about Ealing? Lots of parks, close to Heathrow, district central and Piccadilly lines dependant on where you live plus crossrail now from from Ealing Broadway, West Ealing and Hanwell stations. Some lovely houses and areas and good schools (state and private)

Moonshine5 · 19/10/2021 19:36

@Thatswhatmamasaid
There's a Waitrose in Hanwell/West Ealing border so 15-20 mins from Southall.
Also from a statistical perspective it's safer than most areas mentioned here. Property prices are consistent. It has excellent transport links. Has many historical buildings. And it has one of the highest concentrations of gold shops. Though I don't know if that's what the tone of your post. was suggesting
Yes demographics indicate it's very diverse.

Mapesbury, nice area near Kilburn and Willesden Green?
