Cost of new combi boiler and installation

I'll soon need to replace 17 year old combi boiler in my 2-bed ground floor flat in London. I expect to pay around £1200 for the boiler, according to various searches but can't work out the cost of installation; I assume it's a day's work, no longer.

I'm toying with British Gas or Pimlico Plumbers. I'll get online quotes but at present don't want to feel pressured with sales people chasing me once I've entered email/mobile number.

Has anyone any recent experience?

Pimlico Plumbers are insanely expensive, I’d get a local plumber to do it instead. I had mine done recently, it cost £550

My all in quote from BG and a local plumber were under 100 quid different, both 2.5k for a 3 bed with a Worcester.

Going back a while now, but British Gas estimated something like £4.5K for our house, when a locally recommended independent chap did everything for under £2K.
A few friends said they had similar.

You are best asking local friends, colleagues, neighbours, maybe your facebook friends etc for recommendations IMO.

I got a local fitter recommended by two colleagues. They had to move the boiler (it wasn’t on an outside wall and the vent wasn’t legal any more). I paid around £3,800. British Gas quoted £4,500 for the same and wanted to run pipes across the walls. The local fitter put them behind the kitchen cabinets. It’s worth getting a quote from BG - they pointed out that I could only have a certain size of boiler since the gas pipes entering the flat were small which a third company I got a quote from completely missed.

It took 3 days total because they had to drill through walls and lay pipes etc.

Thank you everyone - all very helpful.

Gawd, there's always something that needs buying or fixing!

I paid £2200 for a new combi boiler and flue, and a few other bits like a system filter and a new radiator valve.
I got three quotes from local installers, I got one recommended by Worcester Bosch, and another guy who fitted Ideal boilers, and their quotes were about the same. Got a quote from another company who also were going to fit a Worcester but their quote was £2900 for the same thing. So, it's worth a shop around for quotes.

Friends of mine recently got a new boiler, around £2000. A local church gives interest free loans to cover the outlay, payable over 2 years.

Look at Boxt they have good ratings on trustpilot and were cheapest quote we got.
They will do online estimate for different boilers and explain the difference between them.
It helps so even if you don't go with them you have an idea what you should be asking about boiler output and guarantee period etc

Just to update in case it helps anyone else:

@Starisnotanumber I went with Boxt - thank you for the information, I'd never heard of them before.

Pimlico Plumbers quote over £4,000, Vaillant boiler
British Gas, just under £4,000, Vaillant boiler
Boxt, £2,400, Worcester Bosch boiler

I was wary at the price difference but thought that as Bosch is a shareholder in Boxt there was a certain security.

Anyway, so far so good!
