Ikea kitchen lead times

Does anyone have recent experience of the lead time on an ikea kitchen? I have builders booked for end of Jan so am assuming we should order now, but the designer seems not to have heard of the global shipping / logistics crisis Hmm so now I'm not sure.

We ordered with a two week delivery. Nothing missing from order. Very good process. No stress.

If you have the space to store everything, there would be nothing to get it all early. Waiting will always run the risk that some essential part cannot be delivered in your timescales.

A lot of stuff 1-2 weeks for delivery. But it depends on your doors and appliances.

The Lerhyttan light grey range is sold out. We had most of our kitchen delivered in July but still have almost no drawer or door fronts.

Our dishwashers were out of stock on order but came back in a couple of weeks later.

We weren't actually ready for the kitchen until this week so its not been too bad (although we have no idea when we might get the fronts). My husband is fitting it so we can be flexible. Worst thing is we had hoped to do it on 0% finance (part of a big extension project so every little helps) and that has expired in the meantime. Do we now have to magic up an extra few 000 as we pay for the items that weren't available.

Short answer... it depends. Definitely don't leave it too late. And if you have space to store then I'd order and take delivery early.

As @Muststopeating says, Lerhyttan fronts have big supply problems (as they are real wood and timber is in short supply). I've also been told all but two dishwashers are OOS until January.

I've just ordered mine, not including doors, handles or worktop (sourcing all those separately) for delivery later this month. Only appliance I'm getting from them is the fridge/freezer though. Was told there were no stock issues with the Metod cabinets or the interior fittings, hinges etc.

@Zinnia I am absolutely dreading how long it might be that I have a front less kitchen. We have no choice but to fit it now, and since it is predominantly drawers, most of it will be unusable without fronts.

We have also bought worktops and handles elsewhere. I had originally planned to get the doors from Foxstow but the quote was over £9k just for fronts so we went for the lerhyttan (which is a lovely door, we just didn't really want grey).

Can I ask where you are getting your fronts from?

I've just had my kitchen installed by an independent builder.

I had a few issues with my ikea kitchen install

  1. I originally went with the black matt kitchen and the designer said I couldn't have a 80cm drawer as there wouldn't be a big enough gap for washing machine. After reading the reviews for this door (fingerprint magnet) I swapped to the axstad.... And my second designer said an 80cm drawer would fit and so would the washing machine. Low and behold it didn't.... And ikea were of no help rectifying the issue because nothing is in stock ... So I had no choice but to chip into a stud wall and alter some pipe that was inside the wall.

  2. when we got to actually buying it the store told us various items were out of stock and didn't offer us any solution. These were mostly the end panels. They were in stock in other stores but those stores don't ship and they were far away.

  3. my builder accidentally chipped my worktop and offered to replace it. Unfortunatly... Ikea was out of stock again except in one store down south and it was the last one in the whole of the UK. (I rang the store and they wouldn't even hold it for me if I came first thing in the morning. Builder offered to look elsewhere but the ikea worktops are deeper than normal. The builder had no choice but to buy the wood veneer worktop that was £200 more expensive.

Overall I'm very happy with my kitchen and the quality is very good. But be aware ikea have stock issues at the moment and their customer service imo is terrible.

Thanks so much everyone. We are booked in for kitchen fitting end of Jan. We've ordered the fronts from Custom Fronts (20-22 week lead time normally atm but have put us up the queue a bit as I think the designer knows them or something). I think we should order the units now and if they arrive in two weeks, so be it. Bit of a pain to have our dining room taken over with boxes that whole time but it is all going to be hideous anyway, honestly. And we don't entertain much so....

Custom Fronts are nice, nearly went with them ourselves but decided in the end we wanted a different look.

@Muststopeating we are getting ours from Foxstow! Really wanted Naked Doors but they would have been approx £10k for us, plus £2.5k ish for a fancy larder cupboard from them. Foxstow quote is more like £7k including a larder top/wall cupboard designed by me that they are making for me (a lot cheaper than the Naked equivalent, beautiful as that would have been).

I'm still having twinges about lovely wood grain shaker doors from Naked, but the Foxstow ones will still be good I think. We are getting primed as I want a hand painted finish, which is keeping (initial) costs down.

Up until the point I was told about the Lerhyttan door supply issues I was also considering getting the light grey ones and painting them the colour we want. They are very nice doors (worth waiting for!)
