Loft conversion layout help!

We're about to start loft conversion in a standard 1930's house. The architect has drawn the following plans which include a landing area at the top of the stairs. I'm just wondering if this is the best use of this area? Anyone done anything similar? If so - what have you done with this space at the top of the stairs? I wondered if some kind of walk in wardrobe/cupboard might be a better use of space? Grateful for any advice!!

You could have storage, or a bookcase and a reading chair? Will there be any natural light from a skylight?

Is that a door on the right going through to another room? I'd assumed it was a blank area but if there's a door it's harder to use the space.

What looks like a door on the right is just a door into under eaves storage in the sloping roof space. We don't have to keep it as a separate area - ie we could move the wall of the bedroom to incorporate that space into the room? Just trying to figure out what makes most sense

Is to to do with building regs ?

i'd shift the door to the eaves storage along by 30cm or so to leave space for some Ikea Billy bookcases on the landing wall. then I'd have a beanbag or some big cushions there & it could be a reading nook.

if you are v short of space, i've also seen a house where the tiny 'top landing' area was fitted out as a v efficient home office. but that is only worth it if you are desperate for space.

So the design is one bedroom with an en-suite? I have a v small landing with two small doubles and a separate bathroom going off it. I would make it so you can access the bathroom from the landing. Much more practical because it can be a second family bathroom if necessary.

Can you move the door to the bedroom a bit closer to the stairs? That will give you space to put bookshelves/storage on the wall you face when you get to the top of the stairs.

We have similar setup and take the piss out ourselves by referring to it as the library.
