Boiler seemingly has no means of repressurising it

Does anyone here have any light they can shed before I inevitably call out the gasman?

I have a Worcester Greenstar 30si compact combi boiler. It has no external filling loop and doesn't seem to be a port for a key. I think it is supposed to have a small blue lever underneath which you pull down to refill it but it just is not there. Doesn't exist. No heating or hot water. And Sunday tomorrow 🤦‍♀️. Grateful for any sage words of wisdom.

there is a download for operating instructions down the bottom of the page

Lifeishitsometimes · 02/10/2021 19:10

Thanks mumwon. That's the one I downloaded earlier and which had me searching for the blue lever for ages....

Randomly we had this recently and it turned out the filling loop was under the kitchen sink. Very odd place to put it the plumber commenter. Try there and see if you can see it

Knittedfairies · 02/10/2021 19:56

At the risk of asking a daft question; have you taken the grey plastic cover off the bottom of the boiler to get at the lever?

Jouleigh · 02/10/2021 19:59

You need @pigletjohn knows everything about everything!

PigletJohn · 02/10/2021 20:01

plese post lots of pics of the pipes under the boiler, and where they go to.

TheCanyon · 02/10/2021 20:03

I've got the same boiler. Mine is on the pipe to the lower right hand side of the boiler. It is black, not blue

mumwon · 02/10/2021 20:03

seriously contact worcester
done a hunt = try their facebook page worcester bosch & ask question there or via their messenger?
(If your anything like me - it will be something so obvious ...)

Leafypage · 02/10/2021 20:58

Mine had an internal filling loop under the boiler, not on the pipes underneath. I had to take the casing off the bottom, more complicated than the usual double pressure/ loop switches on the pipes underneath.

Leafypage · 02/10/2021 20:59

Oh and it had a key I had to turn to a certain point and then the pressure went up, it moves two notches I think, I hope that helps.

Lifeishitsometimes · 02/10/2021 22:03

Thank you everyone. I will post pictures in the morning. Boiler is in loft. I'm so hoping it is solveable because I really need a hot shower and some heating!

There will be a filling loop somewhere. It may not be near the boiler. Our filling loop is on the pipework in the cellar, not adjacent to the boiler. Basically it's a bit of braided flexible pipe which allows you to direct water from the water main into the water that goes round and round your radiators. Have a look on pipes in cupboards etc to see if you can find something looking like the image attached.

I think we have the same boiler - these are the notes I made myself and the picture I took

Slide out bottom cover. Pull down blue lever on the right until pressure gauge points at 1.5 (when cold)

(The lever is inside the boiler)

SequinsandStiIettos · 03/10/2021 01:58

Mine is like Muriel's. You turn the black thingummyjig 90 degrees.

RavingAnnie · 03/10/2021 02:17

You have to pay extra to have the blue lever fitted.

It might be jus a very small screw underneath the boiler (that's what I had on my last boiler which is why I paid extra to have the lever on this new one!)

Or as others have said you may need a filling loop.

RavingAnnie · 03/10/2021 02:18

If it's a screw you just turn it like a quarter turn and it will be in the same place the lever would be.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 03/10/2021 02:43

We have this boiler.

Remove the cover/plate from the base of the boiler. You should find a “key”. Insert key into socket on bottom of boiler until it won’t go any further (it’s quite a tight squeeze) and turn, you’ll feel it turn and then stop. Turn the square knob next to the key until dial reaches desired pressure. Turn square knob back, turn and remove key, have a towel handy to catch any drips.

Video I followed is here and you’ve reminded me I need to do this tomorrow

I love Mumsnet. so many helpful folks. Thank you all. Here are a few pictures. I'm pretty sure there is no filling loop anywhere and definitely no recess to insert the key I bough off Amazon, into.

The black thing I think is a water filter? It has two valves with levers on it but I've tried fiddling with them and no joy.

Yes, the black thing is a filter, don't fiddle with that, it should be sorted out when you have your annual service.

The picture I took is from underneath the boiler, you slide out the bottom cover and look up into the boiler, though yours looks quite close to the floor?

TheSmallAssassin · 03/10/2021 11:50

Oh, sorry, I got the angles wrong, you are looking up too!

Lifeishitsometimes · 03/10/2021 17:48

Yep, looking upward. I can find no evidence of a filling device of any kind anywhere. A complete mystery. Will call WB in the morning. Cold showers for you kids, tonight and the dog will just have to stay disgustingly muddy!

@hannahcolobus thank you that is very helpful. I've been here around a year. Boiler service was on my list for this week 🤦‍♀️. I'm going on the search for a loop after my dinner. The caps are the black rubber/ plastic things right? They are all in situ.

My vendors were ok but there were a few regulatory issues during the purchase so it wouldn't necessarily surprise me if something was a bit ...unconventional ;) I don't think it was them but the previous owners. Install was probably around 2014 I'm guessing.
