Loft eaves storage

If you have a loft conversion and have storage spaces under eaves, what kind of access do you have to the space? And what kind of storage boxes do you use?

I have to crawl through two built in wardrobes (right and left Eaves) to get to the small access doors at the back of them.

I use plastic crates and keep a record of where each numbered crate is stored and what is inside it.

That way I know which of the Eaves I need to get too for something and which crate it is in.

We had big doors built at the back of the built in cupboards with corresponding big doors in front. Big enough to put the Christmas tree in. The cupboards in front weren’t stuffed though as there was a built in wardrobe.

We have to crawl about in our eaves and we use a mixed of plastic crates for lighter things and boxes (about the size for 12 wine bottles) for heavy items, as it is difficult crawling about pushing a large / heavy box.

I think our real problem is we just have too much 'stuff' Hmm

Thank you for the ideas! The space is so valuable for storage I want to organise it well. For us it would be used for a mix of long term storage (sentimental items that take up space) and seasonal items (chirstmas decorations etc). I wonder whether I should put the suitcases in there too.

I am trying to decide whether to go for "blend in" type of hatches or fill the wall with cupboard doors for easy access.

We went for 'hidden' hatches, but our lower walls are painted, wood cladding. There is no architrave and they have the sort of hidden catch where you just push the door in a bit and they pop open.
