New internal doors - what style would you pick?

If you were putting new internal doors into a 25 year old property and wanted something as timeless as possible what style would you pick?

Currently all doors are this style www.diy.com/departments/6-panel-primed-white-woodgrain-effect-lh-rh-internal-door-h-1981mm-w-762mm-t-35mm/26935_BQ.prd?storeId=1127&ds_rl=1272379&ds_rl=1272409&ds_rl=1272379&gclid=Cj0KCQjw18WKBhCUARIsAFiW7Jx-J-xh-D1913y47p7yf11YdTK0m4p3Rr6L0NCq5arSKHFtAf34JwUaAl9SEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Which I don’t like and I’m wondering about something like this

www.diy.com/departments/4-panel-shaker-primed-white-lh-rh-internal-door-h-1981mm-w-762mm/175338_BQ.prd

But an open to something completely different I just don’t know what, other than I don’t want anything that will date really quickly

We installed these last year and I think they look really modern and smart: www.todd-doors.co.uk/iseo-b4500-oak-door Also really good quality. Definitely wouldn’t advise going with B&Q, their doors are barely better than cardboard.

The doors OP has linked to are solid, not hollow like the cheaper doors are.
Dollartuckedinsidemyshoe · 27/09/2021 18:28

Thanks both, I won’t be buying from B&Q necessarily was more trying to show sort styles than anything.

Those doors are lovely @ComtesseDeSpair but I definitely want white doors as there are some quite dark areas in the house

I quite like these but are they timeless or dated? I’m struggling to tell whether I’m veering towards dated in my choices

These are mine but they weren't expensive. I'll see if I can find them online. I like that they don't have traditional panels but still a little detail.

I like these

PigletJohn · 27/09/2021 19:17

I wouldn't have fake woodgrain.

it looks like fake woodgrain.

get solid ones, not hollow.

Dollartuckedinsidemyshoe · 27/09/2021 21:58

Thanks all, will definitely be getting decent quality solid doors in white, I might pick an unfinished wood door and paint it myself, I just don’t know what style door to pick.

@Leah2005 yours are lovely but I think are too modern looking for my style of decor

CellophaneFlower · 27/09/2021 22:39

I really like the 2nd ones you posted. They're classic but clean lined, not like your current ones, which I have too and can't wait to replace!

Karwomannghia · 27/09/2021 22:44

I like your choice. Think carefully about the handles too and where to put them - they could be central or a bit higher which is handy for kids/pets!! Get good quality as ours had crap brass veneer that soon peeled off.

isseys4xmastinselcats · 27/09/2021 22:44

we removed painted ones and put solid pine panelled ones upstairs and oak veneered panelled ones downstairs and osmo oiled them i love them

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 27/09/2021 22:46

I have this style I was going to get the 6 panel white ones too but glad I went for this type.

RampantIvy · 27/09/2021 22:47

Anything that has as few ledges that trap dust as possible. We have the doors on the first link upstairs, and they aren't too bad for dusting.

Livedandlearned · 28/09/2021 01:55

The point made about dust collecting in the little ledges is a good one.

PigletJohn · 28/09/2021 06:56

In some cases, especially flats or 3-storey homes (including loft conversions) you will need fire doors, which are solid, extra-thick and heavy. Avoid trying to lift one on your own. They need rated hinges and linings ("frames").

I recommend lift-off hinges.

Dollartuckedinsidemyshoe · 28/09/2021 07:14

Just a boring bog standard 90’s terrace so don’t think we need fire doors.

I am now contemplating doors with opaque glazing in for some of the downstairs rooms as it’s quite dark in places

Chumleymouse · 28/09/2021 08:30

We have these upstairs….. engineered wood with an mdf outer, surprisingly heavy to hang, been on a few years and have been fine , a nice solid feel to them when you close them. £120 each

Dollartuckedinsidemyshoe · 28/09/2021 12:23

Any idea what doors you’re going to go for @Gettingonabitnow

OP posts:
Dollartuckedinsidemyshoe · 28/09/2021 12:23

I still don’t know what would be most timeless

@Dollartuckedinsidemyshoe I like the Dordogne in white by Howdens, but they don’t fit our door sizes so trying to find something similar x

MilduraS · 28/09/2021 17:14

We have this style downstairs though can't for the life of me remember where from. The front half of our house is in shade from late morning and it's improved the light downstairs.

If I wanted "timeless" / classic I'd stick with the ones you have! The alternative is very modern but will date.
