Is there wallpaper on the ceilings? I like the quirky style in the blue lounge and kitchen, however the rest takes it a bit far for me :)

We’ve two shades of blue, with gold cornice and ceiling rose in our dining room (sounds garish, I know! but with the Art Deco furniture, it sings).

I was horrified when I saw the (professional photographer’s) shots. It looked horrendous.

Experience of selling 6 homes tells me that for some reason, they always “enhance” the pictures. We always asked them to “unenhance” them!

I love the garden. Very charming.

It’s really interesting how lots of people believe they’re taking their Victorian/Edwardian homes back to their original glory by stripping back the wood

The house in question is lower middle-class (of its time, obvs. - jeez, you’d need to be pretty well off to afford it in many towns and cities now).

Bare wood, especially pine which most mass-builders used, indicated that you couldn’t afford to paint the woodwork. Unless it was the superior mahogany, in which case you varnished (internally, usually room dividing doors and built in bookcases).

I like it. Does anyone know if it’s a good area?

I really like this - with the exception of the purple room, it seems to have been done to quite a high standard and with imagination. I love the outside space too.

@flippertyop. I have a very similar cockerel on my kitchen window sill. It’s from the Juliana painted metal range - got it from Amazon along with a matching owl, which reminded me of the mechanical owl in the film ‘Clash of the Titans’.

I can’t see anything wrong with it. The cockerel will go with them and you can change the colours.

You should see some of the weird stuff we’ve come across these past few weeks while we’ve been house hunting if you think that’s out of the ordinary.

Love the kitchen!! I'm not sure about the coloured ceilings but I would love to have a house like that!
