WC replacement

Looking to change our downstairs toilet and sink, does anyone know roughly how much this would cost? I have tried a couple of plumbers but no-one is getting back to me - I don't know if we can do this if I don't know the cost!

Has anyone done anything similar recently in the SE? Not looking for tiling etc, just want a modest WC with functioning toilet and sink.

If you aren't moving any plumbing shouldn't be too much. Cost of sanitary ware, (source it yourself), and labour with a few other bits. Are you sure it won't need a bit of tiling or replastering though? Flooring? Unless it's exactly like for like...
Getting a tradesperson is the hardest part though.

Tradespeople are like gold dust!

We’ve recently replaced our toilet as it was leaking (and was ancient). The toilet itself was around 180 - some a bit cheaper, some more expensive, but can get perfectly good, nice looking ones for 200 easily. Plumber charged me 150 for just over an hour’s work. So total for me was just over £300. We didn’t replace the sink so can probably add same again for that - say 600-700 all in. That was in the north west. So your hourly rate probably higher in the south east, but I’d guess not a huge amount more. Should be under 1000 comfortably I’d have thought.

We didn’t need any tiling or anything like that as all just fit in the same place.

Thank you, I've had a couple of quotes, ranging from £300-£600 - just labour. I guess this is about right, probably doable with our budget (unless they come up with last minute extras!).

does the soilpipe spigot from the WC pan go out horizonally, through the wall?

If so, easy to match.

Some go vertically through the floor, there are not so many replacements, and you have to get one where the wall-to-hole measurements is (nearly) the same.

If the room is large, you can move stuff around more to make it fit.

@PigletJohn It goes horizontally into some boxing behind the toilet, I presume it's all horizontal and should be fairly easy to change. We don't have much space in the room, so I doubt we could make many changes, even if we wanted to.
