Mortgage and new job

Just curious to see if anyone has been able to get a mortgage just as they've started a new job and if so, who was the lender?

A property has come up that I'm interested in but I'm due to start a new job in two weeks and I know some lenders can be fussy and prefer the person to have 3 payslips at least before accepting them.

I went into Santander yesterday just to get some advice and it was big no no from them, but surely this has happened before? New employer will be able to provide a contract stating pay etc, but I will be on a probationary period for 3 months which I believe is standard in most jobs...

Yes, I got a mortgage from Nationwide with just my offer letter of a job. I had to provide the first month payslip once I received it as well. But that was 5 years ago and rules have changed a lot with Covid.

I know that Natwest was also an option at the time.

Using a broker is the easiest route if you can afford the £800 odd quid.

Nationwide were fine with my barely ink dried perm contract.

Don't highlight the probationary period, it's irrelevant. If the contract says permanent then the income can be used immediately for the mortgage calc.

Got a mortgage in the last couple of weeks with nationwide, I was in a temp job with a contract for a perm role with a 6 month probation period. I am the main earner in our household. It took a long time for them to process but it was fine, just provided the contact and a letter confirming my start date. We used Habito as a broker, they are free to use.

London and Country is feefree and usually is able to provide suggestions within a day or so. They look at the whole market so save you running around. Could PM the name of the guy I have used a number of times, or just phone them.

Nationwide and YBS will do it.
